The February 2025 State of Play was an unexpected surprise forPlayStation 5fans, but one that nevertheless delivered where it counted. It offered a plethora of new and exciting reveals from recognizable and new developers, including Housemarque’s latest game,Saros. It also gave fans plenty of updates on upcoming PlayStation games and various third-party titles, such as the memorable newBorderlands 4 trailer.
However, as much as the State of Play was strong, it was missing a few games. Notably, a lot of thebiggest State of Play predictionsthat were circulating days before the event aired were completely absent.Obvious titles, including upcoming first-party releases, didn’t get a look-in, and neither did some that PlayStation has been sitting on for quite some time.
10Indiana Jones And The Great Circle (MachineGames)
It’s Coming To PS5 This Spring
Indiana Jones and the Great Circleis one of many high-profileXbox exclusives coming to PS5. Xbox revealed during 2024’s Gamescom Opening Night Live that it would be ported to the PS5 in Spring 2025, and since then, fans have heard very little. While the game is absolutely still on track to release on the PlayStation 5,neither Xbox nor Sony have given a firmer release date, leaving those excitedly awaiting it in the dark.
That’s why it would have been a perfect choice for the February 2025 State of Play.It’s a big enough announcement to generate hype, but would only require a short trailer to deliver the news, therefore not taking up too much space in the limited runtime. Additionally, Spring 2025, while a somewhat relaxed timeframe, is quickly running out, giving MachineGames not a lot of time to announce whenIndiana Jones and the Great Circlewill come to PS5. It’s a shame then that it skipped this State of Play.
9Phantom Blade Zero (S-GAME)
It’s One Of The Most-Anticipated PS5 Games
Phantom Blade Zerohas had a lot of press coverage, with many referring to it as thenextBlack Myth Wukong, and even received a handful of gameplay trailers showcasing its rather phenomenally stylish combat. However,fans are eager to see more, with even the latest lengthy trailer not doing enough to satiate their hungry appetites. Fortunately, the developer, S-GAME, has been fairly vocal about the fact that players can expect to see more of the game in the coming months.
That’s what made it so shocking to see it be entirely absent from February’s State of Play. While it did get a trailer relatively recently,considering it’s such a high-profile PS5 exclusive, it’s a shame it hasn’t gotten more attention. It will undoubtedly be showcased more in future events, but for now, players will have to make do with the currently available gameplay.
8Marvel’s Wolverine (Insomniac Games)
It Was Revealed In 2021
Marvel’s Wolverinewas announced all the way back in 2021with a short but tantalizing CG trailer. Since then, fans have heard nothing at all from the game, outside of some very unfortunate and terrible leaks. Of course, they’ve been compensated with the incredibleMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, but even that has been and gone, leaving a gaping hole in everyone’s Marvel-loving hearts.
Insomniac had the perfect opportunity to finally showcase some official gameplay forMarvel’s Wolverineand reclaim the narrative, or even just update fans on what’s happening with the game, during the February 2025 State of Play. Unfortunately, it didn’t take that opportunity, meaning that fans will have to wait a little while longer. Hopefully, a new trailer will drop sooner rather than later, as fans are eager to step into the shoes of Logan himself.
7Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (Kojima Productions)
It Is Meant To Come Out In 2025
Death Stranding 2: On The Beachis the bizarre and incredibly ambitious sequel to Hideo Kojima’s 2019 masterpiece. It is meant to be released this year, giving it the opportunity to go toe-to-toe withGTA 6for2025’s Game of the Year. However, players would be forgiven for forgetting that fact,considering that,outside a few teases from Hideo Kojima’s socials, there has been little to no news surroundingDeath Stranding 2.
Of course, much like the rest of PlayStation’s 2025 lineup,Death Stranding 2will likely either get its own State of Play presentation or be featured during larger events. In fact, it is getting a panel at SXSW in March, so fans can look forward to that for more information and new details. However, it doesn’t lessen the blow of getting a bigger title likeDeath Stranding 2during PlayStation’s own State of Play.
6Ghost of Yotei (Sucker Punch Productions)

Much likeDeath Stranding 2,Ghost of Yotei’sabsence felt the most bizarre. This is easily one ofPS5’s most-anticipated gamesof the year and yet people have seen very little of it. While its initial reveal trailer did feature some gameplay, there’s still so much that fans don’t know about it, including how it differs mechanically from its predecessor,Ghost of Tsushima.
While February’s State of Play certainly won’t be the last one of the year, it was a great opportunity for Sucker Punch Productions to show off everything they’ve been working on over the past couple of years.
All that fans want is to see more ofGhost of Yoteiand get to know its protagonist Atsu a little better before it launches later this year. 5God Of War Remastered Collection (Santa Monica Studios)

Before the State of Play aired, a rumor went around claiming that aGod of Warremastered collectionwas in the works and would be shown off during the event. This bundle would allegedly bring together the first three mainline titles,God of War (2005),God of War 2, andGod of War 3, despite the latter having already received a remaster on the PS4. Of course,fans were excited to see it pop up during the State of Play and learn when they could get their hands on this collection of incredible action games.
Unfortunately, that never transpired, and the remastered collection remains very much a mystery. It’s not completely surprising that it wasn’t showcased during this particular State of Play - if it even exists, of course - as aDays Goneremaster was announced.Two remasters in one State of Play may have set the internet ablaze and PlayStation fans a little irate, especially considering the fact that many aren’t happy with Sony’s passion for releasing constant remasters.

Unfortunately,the CG trailer featured absolutely no gameplay, leaving many wondering how it would actually play.

However,it would have been nice to see it appear if only to tease a tiny bit of gameplay, just to give people an indication of what they can expect from the finished product.
3Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 (Square Enix)

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthmay havesold poorly on PS5, but PlayStation fans are nevertheless excited for the third and final installment of theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeproject. Now,it was always unlikely that it would be announced during a regular State of Playconsidering the impact it will have on both fans and newcomers to the series, but many likely expected even a sliver of a tease during the event.
What is more likely is that Cloud and company get shown off during Summer Game Fest or a similarly large event with a dedicated lengthy trailer. It’s also probable thatPart 3won’t get shown off for a little while longer, despite production being well underway. Still,it is a shame to have not heard anything official by this point, let alone seen it during the February 2025 PlayStation State of Play.
2Marathon (Bungie)
We Still Haven’t Seen Proper Gameplay
Marathonis Bungie’s ill-fated new live-service game that no one knows anything concrete aboutand PlayStation seems a little shy to share with anyone. It was first announced in 2023, and since then people have heard practically nothing about it. Fans know it’s an extraction shooter of some kind and a reboot of Bungie’s 1994 game of the same name. The CG reveal trailer also featured a fairly visually stunning world, but beyond that, no gameplay or even any meaningful descriptions of the game have been shared.
The February 2025 State of Play would have been the perfect opportunity to show it off to fans and shut down those who think it’ll never come to fruition like Sony’s other live-service title,Concord. However, once again,Marathonwas completely absent, letting fans down and further fanning the flames of doubt in its detractors. Hopefully, PlayStation will show it off soon, if only so that fans finally have an idea of why Sony is still so passionate about live-service games.

It is hard to believe thatBloodbornewill turn 10 this year, and yet here it is. Since its release,Bloodbornehas made a significant impact both culturally and on its dedicated fanbase that has been clamoring for a sequel or even a remaster. Considering it’s such an important milestone for the beloved soulslike,many were likely expecting it to get a spot during the February 2025 State of Play.
Sorry Bloodborne Fans, But Sony Buying FromSoft Probably Won’t Be What You Want
The news of Sony potentially buying FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa, has made many think of Bloodborne, but it isn’t time to get hopes up.
Alas,Bloodbornefans were let down once again, left to endlessly hope that PlayStation will finally give it another shot. Of course, it is possible that a newBloodborneproject gets announced during its own dedicated State of Play presentation, or that on its actual birthday - which lands on Monday, March 24 - there is an official announcement. Until then,BloodborneandPlayStation 5fans will have to make do with the dozens of reveals from February’s State of Play, many of which seem very promising.
