Alien: Romulus Reveal Makes Kay’s Baby A Result Of Incest

Putting A Dark Twist On The Film’s Final Villain

As it turns out, the identity of Kay’s baby inAlien: Romulusmeans that their child is the result of incest. It has been confirmed thatBjorn is the father of Kay’s baby inAlien: Romulus, with director Fede Álvarez confirming this while responding to a fan theory that was speculating on the matter. When asked about her pregnancy by Rain, Kay simply said that the baby’s father was some jerk from her home planet, not revealing who the father’s true identity was. However, this parental reveal definitely complicates things for the film.

InAlien: Romulus,Kay and Bjorn are cousins, meaning that their incestuous relationship is what led to her pregnancy. Very little is revealed about their relationship in the film, which is why it wasn’t obvious that Bjorn was the father. While their incestuous relationship may have caused fears about their being complications with the child, these fears didn’t come to fruition, as Kay’s use of the black goo fromPrometheusled to her baby mutating into the film’s final alien. This reveal is a dark twist on Kay’s pregnancy, complicating the character dynamics ofAlien: Romulus.

Kay’s Relationship To Bjorn Suggests Why She Hid Her Pregnancy

She Didn’t Want The Crew To Know

Kay hides her pregnancy throughoutAlien: Romulus, with her only telling Rain after she discovers Kay throwing up from the pregnancy. It is never explained why Kay wants to keep her pregnancy a secret from her friends, but if Bjorn truly is the father, then this decision would make sense.Alien: Romulusdoesn’t paint Bjorn out to be the greatest guy, and finding out that Kay is pregnant could upset him. She probably also has mixed feelings about Bjorn, explaining why she refers to him as a jerk throughout the movie.

Keeping her pregnancy a secret from the rest of the crew also makes sense, asshe may not want them to know that she was in an incestuous relationship with her cousin. She could be worried about being looked down on by the rest of the crew, with her decision to tell Rain showing that she trusts her more than the others. Although this storyline is mostly hinted at rather than explicitly explained, this Bjorn reveal turns Kay into one ofAlien: Romulus' most interesting characters.

Bjorn & Kay’s History Changes Their Last Moment Together In Alien: Romulus

It Is The Main Supporting Evidence Of This Storyline

Knowing this information about Bjorn and Kay has a big impact on the viewing experience ofAlien: Romulus, as it completely changes their last moment together. BeforeBjorn dies at the end ofAlien: Romulus, Kay and Bjorn have a sweet moment together that shows a lot of intimacy between the two. The film had previously not set up while the two would interact like this, with a secret sexual relationship being a perfect explanation.

This scene shows that Kay truly still cares for Bjorn, despite her calling him a jerk to Rain earlier in the film.
