The Supernatural Hunters were part of a special faction of vampire hunters. They were created by a Bennett witch who used magic to give them super speed, strength, and endurance that would help them hold their own against vampires. The Supernatural Hunters could be identified with special tattoos that appeared every time they killed a vampire.

The Vampire Diarieshas no shortage of vampire hunters, but the Huntress, Rayna Cruz is one of a kind. Imbued with powers from The Brotherhood of The Five, Rayna had enhanced speed, agility, and strength. She could also resurrect every time she was killed, which made her virtually indestructible. Once Rayna marked a vampire,nothing could stop her from relentlessly hunting them until they died.
15Original Vampires

The Original vampires consisted of the Mikaelson children, Finn, Elijah, Niklaus, Rebekah, and Kol. Unlike other vampires, the Originals were not turned but created by a spell their mother, the Original witch, created. All the vampires in theTVDuniverse were begotten by the Original vampires.
The Originals could only be killed by the stake from a White Oak tree that their mother had used to create them.

These creatures of the night were created by Dr. Wes Maxfield who was experimenting on them in order to test the healing limit of vampires. While regular vampires fed on human blood to survive,Augustine vampires fed on other vampires’ blood. Augustine vampires were stronger, faster, and more agile than regular vampires. Damon, Enzo, Elena, Joey, and Jesse were the only Augustine vampires in the franchise.Enzo was killed by Stefanafter he switched off his humanity.

Legacies
InLegacies,the Wendigo was one of the toughest creatures featured in the show.These supernatural beings originated from North American tribal lore, which describes them as “evil that devours.” They are difficult-to-kill creatures who ate humans and had superhuman strength, speed, durability, and an enhanced super sense.

When the Mikaelsons arrived in Mystic Falls and caused havoc, an Enhanced Original vampire was created to kill them. Alaric Saltzman, who was a vampire hunter before being turned, was the only Enhanced Original in theTVDuniverse. The Enhanced Original was created using the same spell that was used to turn the Mikaelson children into vampires. Alaric was the ultimate hunter,so he had the same abilities as the Originals. The only difference was that he would die when Elena did because Esther had bound his life to Elena while she was still human.
The fact that another magical being could have the same abilities as the Originals didn’t tally with what audiences were made to believe about the Mikaelsons.

11Upgraded Original Vampires
The Originals
The Upgraded Original vampires were featured inThe Vampire Diaries’ spinoff show,The Originals. While the Mikaelsons were humans when they became Original vampires, the Upgraded vampires were vampires before turning. The extremely powerful vampireswerecreated from a modified version of Esther’s spell that was used to create the Originals.
What made the Upgraded vampires even more lethal was the addition of venom that was obtained from the seven werewolf bloodlines in the serum that they drank to turn. They had similar powers to the Originals, except theirs were more enhanced. Their bite could also kill an Original, a feat that had been considered impossible in the franchise.
10Hybrids
The Vampire Diaries, Legacies, And The Originals
Hybrids were a species created by combining two or more supernatural species. Niklaus, who had a werewolf father, was the first hybrid in theTVDuniverse. When Esther turned him and his siblings into vampires, she placedthe hybrid curse on Klausso that his werewolf side became dormant.
There are two types of hybrids in The Vampire Diaries universe: werewolf-vampire and siphoner-vampire hybrids.
However, he found a way to awaken it and thus became both a werewolf and a vampire. The vampire-werewolf hybrids were created when they died with Klaus or Hope’s blood in their system. Hybrids had the combined abilities of both vampires and werewolves, with the added advantage of being able to control when they could turn into werewolves.

Like most supernatural beings,gargoyles are susceptible to certain spells, which is why Hope and Josie were able to kill the mythical creature.
8Sirens
Sirens were one of the oldest supernatural beings featured inThe Vampire Diaries. The beautiful and deadly creatures had an insatiable appetite for human flesh, which is what they ate to remain immortal. The Sirens, who originated from Greek mythology, made an appearance inThe Vampire Diaries’ season 7 and 8.
Sybil made a deal with Arcadius to send souls to hell so she could remain immortal.
The beautiful supernatural beings were psychics before becoming Sirens, which explains how Sybil was able to manipulate Damon and alter his memories. Their telepathic powers gave them the ability to control minds and have anyone do their bidding. The Sirens were so rare that only two of them, Sybil and her sister Seline, were inThe Vampire Diaries.
