Summary
WARNING: Contains Potential Spoilers for Batman: The Brave and The Bold #14!VariousJustice Leagueheroes are well-known for the core motivations behind their heroics. Wonder Woman’s is her love for humanity, Superman’s stems from the compassion and values Ma and Pa Kent instilled in him, and Batman’s revolves around vengeance and an unrelenting desire to protect the innocent. These are all noble motives. However, one Justice League member’s reasons for safeguarding humanity are far from noble and entirely hilarious.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold#14 returns with the second installment of Mark Russell, Jon Mikel, and Mike Spicer’sTime Jerks, a hilarity-filled tale where thetime-traveling hero Booster Goldonce again changes the course of history. InTime Jerks, Part 1, Booster accidentally knocked the asteroid responsible for the dinosaurs' extinction off course with his Time Sphere, forever altering history.

This mishap resulted in the extinction of the human race–with Booster being the only exception–and led to the rise of anthropomorphic dinosaurs. Surprisingly,Michael seemed unmotivated to fix his mistake—until his core motivator came into play: cheeseburgers.
DC Reveals Justice League’s Booster Gold’s TRUE Motivation For Saving Humanity Are Cheeseburgers
Time Jerks, Part 2,focuses on the aftermath of Booster Gold causing the extinction of the human race and the rise of asociety run by anthropomorphic dinosaurs. Despite Booster’s apparent indifference to the consequences of his actions,Skeets, Michael’s robotic sidekick and moral compass, is deeply distressed by the hero’s lack of desire to correct the course of history. Skeets initially tries to guilt-trip Booster into taking action, but Michael remains unfazed, arguing that he doesn’t feel bad because technically all the people he erased “never existed.”
Changing tactics, Skeets emphasizes that Booster will never go on a date again and that once he dies, the human race will be completely extinct. Yet, the hero remains unmoved. It isn’t until Skeets mentions that Michael will never taste a cheeseburger again that he finally starts to show concernand is motivated to take action. Hence, it becomes clear that Booster Gold’s true motivation lies in food, specifically cheeseburgers, something many fans can likely relate to. This revelation about Michael’s core motivator, especially given the dire stakes, is both hilarious and perfectly aligned with his often self-serving and egotistical character.

Booster Gold May Be a Hero, But His Latest Motivation Reveal Proves He’s Not a Good Person
Despite the humor, Michael’s sole motivation to save the human race, being the mention of a cheeseburger, reveals a somewhat selfish aspect of Booster’s character. It portrays him as self-centered and lacking in altruism, only taking action when his desires are directly involved. This depiction diminishes Booster’s heroic image, aligning more with the fame-seeking persona that many in DC Universe perceive him as. However, it’s important to note that this is just one interpretation ofBooster Gold’scharacter; in other narratives, he has shown genuine heroism and selflessness.
