Based on what 22-year-old Moriah and her older brother Ethan divulged duringWelcome to Plathvilleseason 6, Moriah started dating 30 something year old Matthew before season 5, when she was living with Ethan, his now-ex-wife Olivia Plath, and Olivia’s brother, Nathan Meggs. Olivia moved out of the shared house with no notice and behind on rent according to Ethan, who also saidMatthew was the one who prompted Moriah to move out and isolate herself.
During the season, it was revealed by Moriah’s family, and second oldest brother Micah Plath’s girlfriend, Veronica Peters, that Moriah’s ex Matthew created a toxic relationship, and that he would gaslight Moriah, tear her down, and isolate her from her friends and family. Barry claimed that he met Matthew, they spoke for three hours and that he was completely fooled and charmed by him.Barry called him a"master manipulator.“Moriah wrote her song, “Devil In A Suit and Tie,” about Matthew, and the Plaths helped her film her music video for it.

No-Beginning2818on Reddit captured two Instagram Stories posted by Matthew in early October 2024 that were trashing his perception from the show and also slamming Kim.He posted a mug shot from Kim’s 2022 DUI arrest below the image of a devil.
“Remind me again… Who’s more of a threat to people?” Matthew captioned over the image.
In the second Story, Matthew made shared the same image of the devil and made the blanket statement,“I’m quite positive this is not who I am,“referring to Moriah’s assimilation of him to the devil.
Matthew has started problems with the Plath family. Historically,the Plaths have banded together against dissent against them, and most of the Plaths ended season 6 not liking Matthew for Moriah in the slightest. Therefore, if Moriah is still with Matthew, her family is more against it than they were before.
