The Dreadmare is a terrifying and powerful creature inArk: Survival Ascendednewly introduced to the Fantastic Tames DLC fantasy creature series, and it can also be a really faithful companion. It’s a winged, reptilian creature that’s as dark as night. It’s almost like a demonic version of a pegasus. Its primary use is as a transport mount that can fly, but it’s really great at fighting and capturing enemies, too.
TheDreadmare needs to be trained even after being captured. It will start out as a very weak and beatable animal, but through training, it can be an incredibly strong ally that can be used at almost all times. Taming the Dreadmare is a bit different than taming other creatures inArk: Survival Ascended. Unlike most creatures, you don’t actually tame a Dreadmare directly. Instead, you need todefeat a Dreadmareand get the Dark Altar that it drops. This Dark Altar is a special item that allows you to summon a level 1 Dreadmare. Ark: Survival Ascended’s newest DLC brings a fun and useful new mechanic to help survive one of the hardest maps, but many may never get to use it.
To find a Dreadmare, you’ll need to go out into the world at night because they do not spawn while the sun is out. They are most commonly found in the areas surrounding the center of the map. Once you locate a Dreadmare and defeat it, grab its Dark Altar.
Dreadmares have a decent amount of health, and their Dark Wind ability is pretty strong, so be prepared for a fight.
Take this Dark Altar to a safe location and place it downto spawn your newlevel 1 Dreadmare. Once you have the Dreadmare, you’re able to level it up and start using its powerful abilities, like the Black Hole, Dark Wind, and Terror Shield.
