As theArrowversehas officially concluded after over a decade’s run on The CW, one of the long-time stars of theDCfranchise shares their feelings on its ending. 2024 is the end of an era for DC’s live-action legacy, as the overarching Arrowverse timeline finished its journey with theSuperman & Loisseries finale, which saw Lois Lane and Clark Kent’s story getting properly wrapped up. Nowthe Arrowverse franchiseis over, it is not just the fans who are grieving its conclusion, but also the many actors who starred in it.
In a new interview withKJ Today,Jon Cryer looked back at the Arrowverse’s legacy after having played Lex Luthor on the Earth-Prime-based shows prior to Michael Cudlitz’s casting inSuperman & Lois. Cryer, who last portrayed Lex inSupergirlseason 6, celebrated the franchise’s incredible run and mentioned how he wished he could have also been onSuperman & Lois, sharing the following:

The whole Arrowverse was just one for the nerds. I loved being a nerd. I loved reveling in it. We got into the deepest, darkest recesses of DC lore. I am sorry to see Superman and Lois go as well, because I think that was just a fantastic new look at those characters. I think they managed to really crack it by being faithful to who Superman is. And my biggest regret is that I never was on it.
What Jon Cryer’s Arrowverse Ending Comments Mean For The Franchise
Ever sinceArrowbegan its run on The CW in 2012, it paved the way for an entire universe to be born, with new spinoffs constantly launching every year. With all the off-shoots that were born, it also opened the door formany Arrowverse crossovers, making it a first for television to have superhero shows doing regular tie-in events. Cryer’s comments are a testament to the long-time investment fans put into the Arrowverse, making it one of the most beloved franchises of all time.
It’s also crucial to remember that even with the constraints of a TV budget and other DC restrictions, the Arrowverse franchise arguably had a more solid and stable run thanthe DCEU movie timeline, which was regularly having troubles behind the scenes, leading to mixed results on the big screen. Despite not being able to call themselves the Justice League, the Arrowverse honored that team in a unique manner that mirrored the original source material in many ways, leading to a lasting legacy that makes the overall Arrowverse now concluding a major deal.

Our Take On Jon Cryer’s Arrowverse Ending Comments
While it is understandable that Cryer would have wanted a chance to be onSuperman & Lois,it also makes sense that they went in a different direction after revealing that the show took place on an alternative Earth in the Arrowverse multiverse. Nevertheless, this doesn’t take away anything from Cryer’s great run as Lex in the Earth-Prime shows, and also meant Michael Cudlitz was able to give an incredible interpretation of the villain inSuperman & Lois. With theArrowverseofficially done, fans can always relive every show through streaming or on Blu-ray/DVD for years to come.
