The Gold Armored Rhino is a boss you can beat in Chapter 6 ofBlack Myth: Wukongto gain one piece of perhaps the game’s strongest armor set. A golden chest piece and several other valuable items drop as a reward for the boss' defeat. This enemy has various attacks you must prepare for if you want to achieve victory and claim your prizes.
Chapter 6 revolves around the Destined One attempting to find all four pieces of the Monkey Kingarmor set inBlack Myth: Wukong. Along with three other Gold bosses, the Armored Rhino is a mandatory boss defeated for this goal. You also need theJingubang Staff, but this can be found in the Water Curtain Cave when you have the Somersault Cloud spell needed to reach that location.
Where To Find The Gold Armored Rhino
Use Magic To Reach The Right Arena
The Gold Armored Rhino isclosest to theVerdant Path Keeper’s Shrine, an area in the larger Foothills region in Chapter 6. When you get theSomersault Cloudmagic, you can use it to fly around this landscape, wherebolts of lightning show where the Gold bosses are. Head up and to your right until you see a large clearing with a cliff on its left side leading to the ocean below.
All Black Myth: Wukong Spells, Ranked
Some spell options in Black Myth: Wukong are absolute essentials for combat mastery, while others are fun but remain fairly easy to live without.
There are no Keeper’s Shrines next to any of the Gold bosses in Chapter 6, but they will begin to roam areas you find them in if you are defeated. This will make enemies like the Rhino easier to spot when you try to find it for another attempt.
This clearing will be brown from the stamping of the grass there, making it easier to spot alongside the lightning strikes. Make sure youfly high enough in the airto travel over the plateaus in the Foothills to see this location without any trouble. All you need to do is fly to the center of the clearing where the Rhino is located to start a cutscene leading to the boss fight against the Gold Armored Rhino.
How To Prepare For The Gold Armored Rhino
Have Strong Focus And Shock Resistance
Similar to other strong bosses likeYellow Loong inBlack Myth: Wukong, the Gold Armored Rhinouses lightning-infused attacks to inflict the Shock condition. This status effect, when fully built up, causes you to take more damage from incoming strikes. This makes it incredibly easy for the boss to knock you out with its already strong attacks in just one or two moves after you’ve been Shocked.
Shock-Quelling Powderis a consumable item you can use to cure Shock, but upgrades to your healing Gourd can also get rid of the status condition. Some medicines you can craft with Xu Dog during the game’s later Chapters can also increase your Shock resistance stat permanently. However, this method requires you to spend rare materials, which may be used to improve other character traits forever.
Drinks and soaks canadjust your Gourd inBlack Myth: Wukongto help you cure the Shock condition, but this may come at the risk of fewer total sips or less overall healing every time you drink.
Remember tobring Shock-resistant gearto help reduce how long it takes for Shock to build up against the Gold Armored Rhino. Along with a powerful staff, you should be able to contend with this boss for longer with the right equipment. Anything that helps you gain Focus faster is recommended for this fight, as it can help you stagger the Rhino faster for better damage opportunities.
How To Defeat The Gold Armored Rhino
Break The Horn Of The Golden Beast
The golden horn of the Armored Rhino is a weak point, soaim forthis spot on its body with heavy attacks often. Switching between stances may help you reach this spot on the Rhino as it uses physical attacks imbued with lightning to try and damage you.Try to attack the boss from mid-range, as many of the creature’s strikes are charges, horn swipes, and kicks that all target you when you get too close.

Some of Black Myth: Wukong’s best boss fights are found off the beaten path, and triumphing over them leads to rewards that can’t easily be ignored.
When you break the Rhino’s horn, it will fall over and become staggered for a short time. Use this window tocast Immobilize while it is downto extend the window you have to deal damage. Build more Focus and land heavy attacks to tear through the boss’s health bar at this point. With enough luck, thistough boss inBlack Myth: Wukongwill go down easily due to this strategy.
How To Counter
Stomp
The Gold Armored Rhino lifts its front legs before slamming them back down on the ground. On low health, the boss sometimes imbues this attack to cause delayed bursts of AoE lightning.
Dodge to one side when you see the boss raise its legs to perform the Stomp. Dodge backward after the first strike to avoid AoE lightning.
Reverse Kick
When you are behind the Gold Armored Rhino, it will sometimes perform a kick with both hind legs quickly to knock you away.
Be ready for this move while behind the boss, then dodge as you see the creature turn its head to spot you before striking.
Rock Throw
The Gold Armored Rhino digs its horn into the ground before launching boulders from the ground toward you as falling projectiles.
Either run to one side or dodge toward the Rhino and get close to it to avoid the projectiles.
Keep in mind that you’re able to usetransformations inBlack Myth: Wukongto delay any damage you take from the Rhino. Any strikes that hit you while you’re transformed only reduce the amount of time you can stay in another shape.
Lightning Charge
After charging its horn with lightning, the Gold Armored Rhino charges toward you in a rushing attack.
Dodge to one side at the last second as the boss gets close to you, or use Immobilize to stop the creature in its path.
Sweeping Horn Slice
The Gold Armored Rhino raises its head and swipes its lightning horn toward you in slashing strikes by quickly moving its head.
When you see the boss preparing this attack by raising its horn, be ready to dodge backward.
Thunder Herald
Standing and roaring, the Gold Armored Rhino calls forth several lightning strikes with large AoE bursts across the entire boss arena.
Run around the arena and recognize the glowing blue areas on the ground that mark where lightning is going to strike.

This makes this battle difficult to approach, even if you are aware of all the creature’s moves. Remember to stay patient andattack the beast from behind or its sidesto avoid taking unnecessary damage from the unstable element it wields.
