Players returning to the iconic Nuketown map inCall of Duty: Black Ops 6discovered a new Easter egg that changes the entire game. TheBlack Opssubseries is famous for including Easter eggs that occur if players shoot off the heads of all the mannequins in Nuketown, butBlack Ops 6launched without any such secret. Luckily, Season 1 has added in what was previously missing, and it makes for a memorable experience.
Spotted byIGN, Call of Duty content creatorInkslasherposted a clip on Twitter that shows the dramatic change in the game after shooting the heads off of every mannequin while playing Season 1 ofBlack Ops 6. The screen suddenly shifted to a “signal lost, standby” message and cycled through a few grainy images of the Nuketown map. Then, Inkslasher and his fellow players were returned to the map, wherethe welcome to Nuketown sign had an additional “filming in progress” messageas more mannequins eerily watched on.

The game adds a retro TV filter and a 90s sitcom-themed jingle after triggering the Easter egg. Mannequin zombies then attack the players, presumably enacting their revenge for the previous headshots. The Easter egg gives the appearance of players being transported into the TV, where the round is being filmed in front of a ‘live studio audience’, adding a new layer of immersion toBlack Ops 6.

Our Take: Nuketown’s Easter Egg Adds More Immersion
The 90s Setting Of Black Ops 6 Is Being Used Well
Black Ops 6is set during the events of the Gulf War, 1990-1991, and utilizes that period well. Needle drops throughout theBlack Ops 6campaignuse popular 90s songs, major historical figures appear throughout the story, and the game makes players feel like they’re in an action-movie version of that setting.
The sitcom filmed in front of a live studio audience was popularized in the 50s, like Nuketown’s setting, but it’s also an iconic part of the 90s. By turning the Nuketown map on its head into a 90s-style sitcom set,Call of Duty: Black Ops 6captures the feel of both periods and keeps players immersed for the entirety of their game, making for an experience that’s worth coming back to.
