Summary

Footage fromDaredevil: Born Againwas shown at the D23 Expo, and it included a surprising connection to anotherMCUhero. TheMCU’s upcoming Daredevil serieswill be important in establishing many street-level characters. It brings back many of New York’s famous heroes and villains, like Punisher and Bullseye, but it will also introduce new ones, includingthe MCU’s Museand White Tiger. It will also build on the war between Kingpin and Daredevil, but the footage teases a possible alliance between the two rivals. There is also the possibility that the show’s events will carry over into other MCU properties.

The MCU’sSpider-Man 4movieis expected to be more street-level, with a possible team-up between Spider-Man and Daredevil. However, theDaredevil: Born AgainD23 footagedidn’t include a reference to the famous webslinger. Instead, it featured an unexpected connection to Ms. Marvel, who doesn’t seem to belong in Daredevil’s dark and gritty universe.

Daredevil: Born Again Seems To Be Wisely Avoiding The Least Interesting Storyline From The Netflix Series

Many parts of the Netflix series are carrying over to Daredevil: Born Again, but it may be leaving its least interesting aspect in the past.

Daredevil: Born Again Will Include Ms. Marvel’s Father

Yusuf Khan Has A Surprise Role In The Upcoming Series

TheDaredevil: Born Againtrailer includes many exciting moments, likethe return of Jon Bernthal’s Punisherand Matt fighting some goons while in his Daredevil suit. Interestingly, there are also a few scenes featuring Kamala Khan’s father, Yusuf. He appears in two moments of footage. First, he is seen in court, putting his hands up as though there are guns pointed at him. The second time is at the end of the trailer where he asks Matt “What kind of a lawyer are you?” Matt responds, “A really good one,” in a callback toSpider-Man: No Way Home.

It’s unclear what Yusuf’s role will be, but it looks like Matt may represent him in a court case. Ms. Marvel likely won’t appear, but given their familial relationship Yusuf will probably mention Kamala, even if she doesn’t have a cameo. Marvel wants to keep the focus on Daredevil and the accompanying characters, andMs. Marvel is a notable MCU character who would be distracting. Still, Yusuf wasn’t a character audiences expected for this show, and it will be interesting to see howDaredevil: Born Againconnects toMs. Marvel.

The MCU Needs A Young Avengers Update

The Marvels Teased A Possible Team-Up

A Young Avengers projecthas been rumored for a while. These rumors got more steam afterThe Marvelsended with Kamala recruiting Kate Bishop for a team she states she’s forming. Since this exciting tease, Marvel hasn’t addressed the possibility of a Young Avengers project, raising many questions about its status. However, Marvel keeps adding other young heroes into its universe, like Cassie Lang and Ironheart, among other young characters, like Shuri and Spider-Man.

The Young Avengers as a group most likely won’t get directly addressed inDaredevil: Born Again. However, Kamala’s own story can get a much-needed update from her father - even if it’s only via passing comments about his family - providing insight into her personal arc and subsequently suggesting things about the team she’s been working to build, as her doing very well or very poorly has implications in this regard.

The Marvelsdidn’t perform well at the box office, but it ended with a massive tease, which only grows more mysterious with time.It would be disappointing if Marvel abandoned the project entirely becauseThe Marvelsflopped, giving Kamala and Kate’s meeting no further development. Kamala was a highlight in the film, and audiences want to see more of her and where her story leads after this plot thread, whether it’s in a Young Avengers project orMs. Marvelseason 2. As such,Daredevil: Born Againnow seems an ideal place to at least sow the seeds for the future.

Daredevil Meeting Kamala Khan Would Be Great For Ms. Marvel Season 2

Daredevil Could Work With Ms. Marvel’s Lighthearted Tone

Thestatus ofMs. Marvelseason 2is still up in the air. While it’s one of the better-reviewed Marvel projects on Disney+, it was also one of the least-viewed, which could in part explain why Kamala’s role inThe Marvelsdidn’t lead to better box office results. If season 2 does happen, Daredevil would be a great addition, and would allow for the MCU to build on Yusuf’sBorn Againcameo without putting the joyous and bouncy Ms. Marvel in the seriousDaredevilshow.

However, Matt Murdock has proven he works withMs. Marvel’s tone.She-Hulkwas a more mature series thanMs. Marvel, but it still had a fair amount of comedic moments. Charlie Cox proved he has good comedy timing, and he made Daredevil work in that atmosphere, without sacrificing the darker edges of the character. Indeed, sinceDaredevil: Born Againhas a decidedly different rating and atmosphere to most MCU projects, allowing the show to have an unusual kind of crossover with a lighter release can help the franchise tie itself together - and potentially even tease what the future holds.
