A New, In-Depth Look into How Bruce and Jason’s Partnership Began
To say that Jason Todd had one of the most difficult pathsamong the Bat-Family memberswould be an understatement. Aside from the circumstances surrounding his neglectful parents, Jason struggled as Robin and his violent and impulsive behavior led him to clash with Batman frequently. Then, the young hero infamously died at the Joker’s hands during the infamous “Death in the Family” storyline. Jason eventually came back to life, giving into his darkest impulses and becoming the murderous vigilante Red Hood. Jason was eventually accepted back into the Bat-Family, but he’s still living under the shadow of his lifelong trauma.
This, of course, isn’t the first time that Lemire and Nguyen have retold a Robin’s background asRobin & Batmanshowed what it was like when Dick started fighting crime alongside Bruce. Though both books follow a similar premise, Jason’s story is almost certainly going to be more of a gut-punch. While Dick had his ups and downs with Batman, Jason and Bruce had a much more difficult relationship. But a book that really looks into what these early days were like from Jason’s perspective could lead toan amazing new perspective on the past that ultimately shaped Red Hood.

Robin & Batman: Jason Toddis a Great Way of Examining Who Red Hood Really Is
Jason Todd is a complex character, no doubt, but it’s easy to look at him now and forget about how much he went through at such a young age. A book like this is a great opportunity to go back and see what was going through his head and possibly what Batman could have done differently for Jason to improve things for him. While it can’t change the past, it could be a great way of getting intoRed Hood’shead and see what it was that made Jason Todd into the hero he is today.
Robin & Batman: Jason Todd #1is available on June 11th from DC Comics.
