Why Disney+ Prices Are Going Up - Are There Consumer Benefits?

Disney+ Still Isn’t Profitable

Disney+ is raising its costs due to the fact that Disney still isn’t profitable (even withInside Out 2’s record-breaking box officetotals). The Walt Disney Company has been struggling since the COVID-19 pandemic, similar to other entertainment studios and companies, and one of its main issues is its streaming platform.Disney’s entire streaming division (including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+) recently turned a profit for the first time, but separately, the same can’t be said for Disney+, which is why its prices are increasing. The future is looking brighter, but Disney is still losing money and needs a quick solution.

For those who pay for the Premium tiers, Disney+ is introducing four new playlists in the fall — Seasonal Content (seasonal-themed content), Epic Stories (a compilation of Disney, Marvel, andStar Warsstories), Throwbacks (nostalgic content), and Real Life (documentaries and biopics). So, there are some benefits to Disney+ upping its prices.
