Summary
Ever since the release ofElden Ring:Shadow of the Erdtreeand the reveal that Miquella used his powers to manipulate Mohg into stealing him away from the Haligtree, players have become sympathetic to the Lord of Blood. The community has done a hard 180-degree turn with Mohg, but that doesn’t mean the Omen is entirely innocent. When it comes to kidnapping Miquella, and then getting his dead body possessed by Radahn’s soul, yes, he is innocent there.
Omens are curse-born beings with horns. Commoners born as Omens have their horns cut off and are killed as children, but noble-born Omens live underground in obscurity.

Mohg is not like his Omen brother,Morgott, the Omen King.Morgott is a hero, taking up the title of King of Leyndell to defend a city of people who hate him because it is his duty. He is as selfless asElden Ringcharacters come, but Mohg hasn’t got the same morals. In fact, should the Tarnished use the Remembrance of the Blood Lord to getMohgwyn’s Sacred Spear(which is more like Mohg’s trident),they will find a disturbing fact about the Lord of Blood when looking very, very closely at his weapon.
Elden Ring Player Finds A Bizarre Way To Cheese Shadow Of The Erdtree’s Final Boss
Elden Ring players have found the weirdest possible way to beat Radahn, completing Shadow of the Erdtree without touching its final boss.
Disturbing Elden Ring Detail Shows That Mohg Is Still A Villain
He Serves An Outer God Obsessed With Blood
As pointed out by userCatsnstuffzon Reddit,Mohg’s spear is made out of tiny bodies, and appears as though it shares some similarities with the Gate of Divinity in Enir-Ilhim. This makes sense since Mohg was trying to make Miquella a God while he became the ruling Consort, but it does show Mohg has killed a lot of people to get what he wants. He does worship the Formless Mother, an Outer God who loves blood, and he has definitely sacrificed a lot of people for personal gain before Miquella’s manipulation.
Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spearshows that the Lord of Blood shares quite a few similarities to his other power-hungry family members, which doesn’t exactly paint him as a sympathetic saint.Rykard’s Blasphemous Bladeis also made of many bloody body parts, and Rykard is known to make many sacrifices to his God-Devouring Serpent. For all the Tarnished knows, Mohg could have sacrificed as many people as Rykard did, and it is believable considering that his title is the Lord of Blood.

The spear is also reminiscent of Marika’s statues in Leyndell, which depicts the goddess being held up by a bunch of bodies. Although she managed to keep her worse works hidden in the Land of Shadow, beingMessmer’s crusade against the Hornsent, those in the Lands Between know that a lot of people were killed by Marika, such as the Fire Giants. This could show that Mohg is following in his mother’s footsteps, even though she probably hated him, and is sacrificing/ killing a lot of people to get the power that he craves.
Mohg May Have Been Manipulated, But He’s Still Evil
The Lord Of Blood Isn’t The Title Of A Saint
Considering that one of the most prominent members of Mohg’s cult isWhite Mask Varre, who requires the Tarnished to invade three other players,or Magnus the Beast Claw as of Patch 1.06, it shows the kind of villainy that the Lord of Blood associates himself with. Varre is far from a saint and famously calls the player maidenless, which is still pretty funny when the man practically worships Mohg. Mohg clearly reciprocates this behavior somewhat, giving Varre standing in his ranks.
Varre can be invaded via a sign next to the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint Site of Grace on the way to Mohg’s boss room.

Mohg also founded his cult in the name of the Formless Mother to get the greater power and standing he was denied as an Omen shoved into the Shunning Grounds shortly after his birth. With or without Miquella’s manipulations, he wants to rule the world, and there is a chance that he would have tried to get another Empyrean to become a God that he could be the consort of. He might not have stolen Miquella specifically, but with all the death he has sowed, it isn’t too far-fetched for him to have tried to steal another Empyrean.
Although a lot isn’t known about the Formless Mother, sometimes called the Mother of Truth, it is known that she is an Outer God that craves wounds and bestows power upon accursed blood. She isn’t exactly a virtuous deity and, quite frankly, none of the Outer Gods are. Mohg’s almost zealous worship of her has likely led to a fair few innocents meeting their end in his search for power, and her craving for blood and wounds is likely the reason why followers of Mohg invade other worlds so readily.

One Elden Ring Demigod Deserved A Bigger Role In Shadow Of The Erdtree
Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion builds plentifully on the baes game’s story, but one key demigod seems to be forgotten in the DLC.
Mohg Still Isn’t As Evil As First Thought
But He Isn’t A Good Guy By Any Means
Before the release of the expansion,Mohg did receive a lot of hate for his kidnapping of Miquella, considering that the Empyrean is both childlike in appearance and his half-brother. Marrying a half-brother is weird enough, but kidnapping them while Malenia was in a coma made it even worse. Still, this part of his character was redeemed afterShadow of the Erdtreewas released, and much of this ire was redirected to Miquella instead, and rightfully so, but it shouldn’t turn into adoration for Mohg.
Miquella still tries to marry one of his half-brothers by makingRadahn his promised consort.

Mohg is not the hero that fought for the organization and people that hated him, like Morgott, nor is he the honorable general that just really loves his horse, like Radahn. He’s more of a Rykard-like figure, sacrificing people to an entity to achieve more power. Yes, he’s innocent when it comes to Miquella, and the jokes around him beating the allegations are hilarious, but he’s a power-hungry villain whose death was probably for the best for the Lands Between, if the bodies on his spear and blood motif are anything to go by.
Ultimately,Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeand its reveals regarding Miquella have been amazing for Mohg and his image. He’s more sympathetic, part of a funnier version of the original joke, and it turns out he isn’t a kidnapper of children — or at least child-like demi gods. All of this doesn’t mean he’s a hero or saint. He has got a lot of people killed for his quest for power and communes with an Outer God whose entire power set revolves around blood and wounds. Even if he was wronged by Miquella, it doesn’t mean he didn’t wrong others.
