Dragon Ball DAIMA, the most recent entry in the amazing franchise created by the beloved Akira Toriyama, continues expanding the lore and universe of the series. The introduction of the unforgiving Demon Real came with shocking revelations about the world inhabited by Goku and his friends.

One of the most intriguing revelations the series has to offer is the debut ofa race known as Glind,a genderless species from which most of the Kais have originated. The introduction of this new race, which does not naturally possess any divine energy, might explain Zamasu’s horrid behavior inDragon Ball Super. His time suffering in the Demon Realm might have caused his young mind to see mortals as pests who deserved to be exterminated.

Zamasu’s Time In The Demon Realm Could Have Caused His Hatred For Mortals

This New World Is Filled With Danger And Evil Beings

One of the first things revealed in episode #1 of theDragon Ball Daimaanime series was the ruthless Demon Realm. While the show made it clear that not all races hailing from this dimension are inherently evil, like Namekians, whose origins were retconned, it also explained that many vile characters did call it their home. As a member of the Glind, a common species found in the Demon Realm,Zamasu likely had to deal with many of the dangers and evil citizensof his home dimension.

The Kai were previously described as members of a species called “Core Persons”. While the name was changed,Daimamainted most of their previous characteristics, including the fact that they are born from trees.

By the time he was old enough to leave his birthplace and ascend to godhood, he had become resentful of mortals. Giving him access to divine knowledge and power only emboldened his stance on non-godly beings. Her already biased psyche could have gotten worse by being chosen to hold the role of Universe 10’s Supreme Kai. No other mortal was selected for that prestigious role, so he was the only one worthy among them. His childhood trauma, immense ego, and boost in abilities thanks to the divine energy flowing in him, made him into the monster fans met.

Zamasu’s Hypocrisy Hides His Deep Shame

Despite Refusing To Accept It, He Was Once Mortal

While Zamasu’s past as a Glind in the Demon Realm might explain why he became a villain, it also exposes his blatant hypocrisy. Although he might have become a God at some point in his life,Dragon Ball Daimaepisode #6 also clarifies that he was born as a mortal. No member of the Glind race is born with divine Kiand their above-average fighting skills are still nowhere near the level of the deities. Despite this, Zamasu refused to acknowledge himself as anything other than a god throughout the Future Trunks Saga.

This strongly hints at Universe 10’s Supreme Kai’s apprentice feeling inadequate with his origins. Zamasu, despite being one of the most powerful villains in the franchise, felt shame about having been born a mortal. What is more, the Glind might have also felt ashamed about his lack of strength, prompting him to overtake Kakarot’s body and give birth to the sinister Goku Black. Even though he refused to admit it, Zamasu’s difficult life and his insecurities are what inspired his Zero Mortal Project.

Dragon Ball Daimacontinues impressing fans with its amazing plot, entertaining episodes, and the changes it has brought to the franchise. While not likely the main purpose of this revelation, the background of the Glind species helped fans understand Zamasu on a much deeper level.
