Disney and Pixar fleshed out the world ofInside Outin the so-called “inbetweenquel” seriesDream Productions, but will the imaginative show score a season 2 renewal? Taking place between the events of theInside Outmovies,Dream Productionsis set on the lot of Riley’s personal dream factory. Like a Hollywood movie studio, the titular production house is tasked with creating all of Riley’s dreams, and director Paula Persimmon (Paula Pell) is the brains behind the operation. However, when her higher-ups become unhappy with her work, she must create new dreams with the help of a young daydreamer.
Told across a four-episode season, the 90-minute tale is essentially another film in theInside Outuniverse, and even features some guest appearances from the familiar emotions from the blockbuster movies.LikeMonsters at Work,Dream Productionsproves that Disney/Pixar’s greatest strength is the imagination behind their movies' worlds, and thoughDream Productionswas conclusive, there’s always room for more. While Disney+ has made no mention ofDream Productionsseason 2 yet, it seems like Riley’s dream factory could resume operation at any point in the future if the ideas are interesting enough.

Dream Productions Season 2 Is Not Confirmed
A Second Season Was Never Guaranteed
The first season ofDream Productionsserves as a bridge betweenInside OutandInside Out 2, and with that gap spanned, there might not be any reason to return to Riley’s dream factory.
Pixar’s first foray into the TV game was a resounding success, and though reviews forDream Productionshave been largely positive, it’s unclear if the show will get renewed. The first season ofDream Productionsserves as a bridge betweenInside OutandInside Out 2, and with that gap spanned, there might not be any reason to return to Riley’s dream factory.

Another thing to note is thatDream Productionswill rely heavily on where theInside Outfilm series goes.If a third movie is announced,Dream Productionsseason 2 could serve as a bridge between those movies too. Better yet,the series could hold fans over as the wait betweenInside Out 2andInside Out 3will probably be long. One last thing to consider when thinking of a second season is the performance of season 1. Even though reviews have been positive, an expensive project likeDream Productionswill need to be a huge success to get renewed.

Will Paula & Xeni Return In Another Season?
The cast ofDream Productionsis a mix of established stars fromInside Outand newcomers specifically for the series. If the show does score a season 2 renewal, it stands to reason that many of the franchise’s beloved characters will return once again. One necessary return would be Kensington Tallman as the tween Riley Anderson, especially since the entire franchise exists within her head. It’s less certain if Riley’s signature emotions will reprise their roles, especially with major stars like Amy Poehler (Joy) on the roster.

Dream Productions Season 2 Story Details
A New Era Of Dreams Has Begun
Signifying a major change in Riley’s life, the ending ofDream Productionsdid a terrific job of bridging the twoInside Outmovies. However, on a smaller level, it also wrapped up the individual storylines of the major characters at the studio. Paula learned to be open to other people’s ideas, Xeni learned to be kinder, and Janelle’s years of hard work finally paid off. On top of that, the show’s “villain”, Jean (Maya Rudolph), was even demoted to craft services as punishment for her cruelty as producer. All that was wonderful, butit limits where season 2 can go.
Pixar isn’t one for churning out repetitive content just for the sake of it.

While the sophomore season could always just dream up some new conflict for Xeni, Paula, and the gang to solve, Pixar isn’t one for churning out repetitive content just for the sake of it. Instead,Dream Productionsseason 2 will have to build upon the larger world, and could even pick up after the events ofInside Out 2.As Riley matures, it’s safe to say that the dream studio will need to undergo some major changes, and it would be interesting to see how the crew deals with the transition. Not to mention,it could provide crucial context ifInside Out 3does eventually happen.
