The title follows former Mandalorian warrior Jango Fett’s time as a bounty hunter before his appearance inAttack of the Clonesand explains just why he was chosen to be thetemplate for the clone army, as he proves himself after being hired to defeat the deranged dark Jedi, Komari Vosa, and bring down a cult known as the Bando Gora. It also depicts several key moments, such as how he acquired his iconic ship, Slave 1, which was later inherited by Boba Fett in the series.
The new version has been developed by Aspyr, who has previously worked onStar Warsremasters and ports such asStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republicand themore recentStar Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection.Star Wars: Bounty Hunteris a multiplatform release and launched on PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, making this the first time the game will be playable on Xbox consoles as it originally launched on PS2 and Nintendo Gamecube in 2002 and skipped Microsoft’s console. While most of these versions play the same for the most part, the PS5 version does have some additional features due to its DualSense controller.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter Review - Jango Fett Might Not Be Worth The Remaster
Aspyr’s Star Wars: Bounty Hunter remaster is a fleeting fun nostalgia trip that’s let down by some dated systems that should have been adjusted.
The PS5’s DualSense Can Be Used For Gameplay Mechanics
Along With The Haptic Feedback The Controller Is Known For
Despite already having a release on PS4 - which is playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility - the new release ofStar Wars: Bounty Hunteris made to run natively on PS5, and as previously stated, the main features unique to the PlayStation 5 are through its DualSense controller. As is to be expected from Sony’s latest controller,Star Wars:Bounty Hunterutilizes thehaptic feedback and adaptive triggerswhen using Jango’s weapons to make them feel different from one another, as he wields dual blasters, a flamethrower, toxic darts, jetpack missiles, and more.
Jango’s in-game radio communication has been re-routed to play through the controller’s speaker - depending on whether the speaker has been activated or not, which can be sorted through the PS5’s settings - to create a more immersive experience in this newer version. The DualSense has also been tied more directly into other gameplay mechanics, as the lightbar display on the controller can be used as a visual indicator of Jango’s current health status, mirroring his health bar in the game.

Star Wars: Every Upcoming Movie, TV Show, Game, Book, Comic, & More
Star Wars’ major releases across canon will be numerous in the next half-decade, from TV shows and films to books, novels, and video games.
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter Has Received Visual Improvements
With Upgraded Textures, Advanced Lighting, And More
As is expected from a modern remaster, everything inStar Wars: Bounty Hunterhas been upscaled to work on larger displays with higher resolutions. Because of this, Aspyr has had to improve the game’s textures, giving them bump maps to give more depth and texture to the environment to make it feel richer and slightly closer to what players would expect from a more modern release.
There’s also been an overhaul to the lighting system in the game, withdynamic lighting creating far more immersive environments, as every bolt from Jango’s blasters will illuminate the surrounding area. Aspyr has also clearly taken note of how the original game could be extremely dark at times, asJango now has a toggleable flashlight that he can use to navigate these darker areas in the remaster.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter shows how Jango and Boba Fett compliment one another, as Boba gives his father purpose, while Jango molds him in his image.
The New Version Of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter Has A New Playable Character
Delivering On A 22-Year Old Promise
While many of the aforementioned features have been improvements to the game that players already knew from 22 years ago, perhaps the biggest new addition is thatAspyr has finally made one of the original game’s Easter eggs a reality. WhileStar Wars: Bounty Hunter’s campaign primarily follows Jango Fett’s origin story, previous versions of the game displayed a very low-resolution texture with a message written in Aurebesh that translated to“Cash in all bounties to play as Boba.”
Unfortunately, this was a false promise, as the feature to play as Boba Fett didn’t exist, which led to some disappointment for those who achieved 100% completion and still could only play as Jango Fett, with many speculating over the years that this was an intended feature that was cut, and the message simply wasn’t removed. In the new version ofStar Wars: Bounty Hunter, however, once players have finished the main campaign, they are finally able toequip a new Boba Fett skinfor their next playthrough.

DespiteStar Wars: Bounty Hunteralready having a playable release on the PlayStation 5 through the previous PS4 release, it’s clear that Aspyr’s newer features and graphical improvements make the new version the superior release for those who do want to revisit Jango’s story. While the DualSense features are exclusive to the PS5 version, the inclusion of Boba and the visual enhancements are the same across all other platforms of the game, ensuring players are mostly receiving the same overall experience regardless of how they choose to play.
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Before Disney+ released The Mandalorian, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter on the PlayStation 2 was one of the few forms of onscreen media out there to give you further insight into Jango Fett. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter was developed and published by Lucas Arts in 2002 as a prequel toEpisode II Attack of The Clonesand a continuation of Haden Blackman’s comic book,Jango Fett: Open Seasons. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is a brilliant precursor toAttack of the Clonesas it fills in gaps that aren’t explored in the movie relating to Jango Fett, such as how he acquired his ship, Slave I, and most importantly, why he was chosen to be the template for the Grand Army of the Republic. In the video game, Jango Fett has been hired by Darth Tyranus to capture and kill the leader of the Bando Gora crime syndicate, Komari Vosa, as Darth Tyranus and Darth Sidious are anxious that Vosa is becoming too powerful and will jeopardize their plans at universal domination. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter was considered a success, not only for filling the gaps withAttack of The Clones, butits graphics, length and level design were all lauded. Although this is a classic game, we do have to mention one glaringly crazy fact, this game is expensive! At $250, you’ll have to be a devoted Star Wars fan if you want to pick this one up.
