Summary
Evilcreators Robert and Michelle King address the show’s future, talking about whether the fan-favorite supernatural thriller could end up on a different platform. It was announced earlier this year thatEvilseason 4, again led by Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, Aasif Mandvi, and Michael Emerson, would be the last. But the series was given four additional episodes to wrap up the story, with the finale recently premiering on Paramount+.
In an interview withDeadline, the Kings were asked whetherEvilmight get picked up by another platform, given that the show’s first three seasons are available on Netflix. Michelle King acknowledged that a campaign to rescue the show is underway, though she declined to answer further about another outlet taking the series, saying: “I think we should just leave that be. I don’t think we can answer the question.“Robert King shared his hopes for two more seasons.Read their quotes below:

Robert King: It feels like there’ll be two more seasons. Michelle, I’m not stepping our bounds with saying we wish we could do more, am I? because it’s just cool. It’s a fun idea, a fun cast.
Michelle King: We’re real delighted that it is, in fact, popular on Netflix, that it’s gotten a ton of viewers. You know, really all you want is your work to be seen.

Robert King: If we’re a victim of anything, it’s a timing. Obviously, since the strike, but also the Wall Street reevaluation of the business, there’s been a change in attitude on things. And obviously, as you probably know, with Paramount+ there is as some reevaluation of what they’re doing and the decision was made to end the show. And I think the popularity of the show didn’t really hit until after some of those decisions were made.
There’s A Clear Path Forward For Evil’s Potential Revival
Evil Could Take A Rome Detour.
As a compromise and a way of keeping David involved with The Chruch, his handler (played by Denis O’Hare) agrees to continue operating the Assessor Program in Rome. Kristen (Herbers) and David (Colter) go together for at least those six months, with Kristen even taking her daughters and newborn Timothy. As the creators have noted, there’s aclear continuation just by following what happens with Kristen and David in a new setting.
If that doesn’t happen, the ending works in a way that audiences can choose the conclusion they’d most prefer.
But there’s also the question of what happens to the rest ofEvil’scharacters. It’s hinted that Ben (Mandvi) is already frustrated with his high-paying job in theseason 4 finale. Leland (Emerson), likewise, will have to contend with the fact that there might actually be goodness in his heart. There is no climatic sendoff in the closing episode, as much as there is a sense that the characters are left in a good place.
