At the beginning of the finale, all three have seemingly begun the process of moving beyond their old positions. Kristen has resumed her work as a psychologist, helping new patients in her home office. Ben has found profitable work within the tech sector. David remains a priest, and is offered a chance to rejoin the Entity.
Despite not formally being a group anymore, the trio remain a tightly knit group who support one another when the VR goggles from Season 1’s “Rose398” show them their greatest fears. This builds to the central threat of the finale, where Leland decides to follow through on the desires of the Sixty and targets Kristen while her daughters are distracted by the VR Goggles. Breaking into the building,Leland is tricked and defeated by the trio, leading to his capture and the ultimate proof that the trio remain a team even if not formally.

In the aftermath of theEvil’s various conflicts, Father Di Vita tries to bring David back into the fold with the Entity. However, David still doesn’t necessarily trust the organization, andinstead wants to take control of the Assessor Program as a whole. The finale reveals that David does get his way, resulting in a move to the Catholic Church’s base of operations in the Vatican City enclave within Rome. Although he offers Ben and Kristen the chance to join him, only the latter decides to go with him.
Even that decision comes slow, with Kristen only relenting after much thought and after deciding to bring her family with her. The sequence highlights the underlying romantic tension between Kristen and David that’s been one ofEvil’s most consistent character relationships. Although their bond remains platonic due to David’s commitment to the Priesthood and Kristen’s responsibilities to her family,the end of the series reflects the deep connectionthat has formed between the pair and reinforces it by having Kristen follow him around the world to continue their work.

Evil’s Hypothetical Season 5 Could Become A Kristen Vs. David Story
AlthoughEvilmore or less sped through the final episodes of the show, fans of the series (including horror icon Stephen King) have been clamoring for Paramount+ or another streamer to pick up the series. If they were to do so,the show has a couple places it could explore. Leland’s removal from the board could be undone, or other members of the Sixty could resume their machinations against the world. While Ben remains in America, the finale confirms that he intends to visit his friends in Rome, affirming his presence in their lives. There’s also the matter of Timothy.
Kristen’s baby, Timothy is secretly the Antichrist, but plans to make him agent of evil were complicated by his baptism. However, the final moments ofEviltease he may still possess his demonic side, and Kristen is willing to keep it a secret from David. This couldset up a compelling conflict between the pair in a hypothetical season 5, pitting the pair against one another over the fate of Timothy. WhileEvilhad a solid finale, the show left enough teases about the future that fans will be desperately praying for a revival sooner than later.
