Spoiler Alert for Ghosts season 4

This article discusses drug use.

Ghostsmust explain an inconsistency in the death and afterlife of two ghosts in the CBS series, which would enhance the show’s robust lore. The inconsistency, quietly rearing its head in nearly every episode, affects two main ghosts.Ghostsseason 4highlights the inconsistency when it redeems the story of Trevor’s death.Ghostsseason 1, episode 16, “Trevor’s Pants,” first tells the story, flashing back to the night Trevor died at Woodstone Mansion without his pants on.Trevor becomes nonresponsive after mixing prescription pills while partying with his finance friends, and they dump his body in the lake.

Ghostsseason 4, episode 4revisits Trevor’s death, which circles back to his finance career. “The Work Retreat” reminds the audience that Trevor helped his friend Pinkus by lending him his pants just before he performed the"Run of Fun"— running from Woodstone Mansion to Manhattan without his pants on. Episode 4 delivered a heartfelt focus on Asher Grodman’s divisive character, bringing his death back into the conversation. The aftermath of Trevor’s alleged overdose doesn’t make any sense when consideringhow everyGhostscharacter died, specifically Sheila Carrasco’s Flower.

Both Trevor & Flower Died When They Were Under The Influence

Trevor And Flower Died On Pills And Mushrooms

Trevor and Flower both die under the influence inGhosts, but only one of them experiences the effects of their substance use in the afterlife.Ghostsestablishes almost immediately that Flower, a hippieghost with a 1960s backstory, is permanently high after dying while stoned on psychedelic mushrooms. In her afterlife, Flower constantly forgets her surroundings, like the conversations she is having. Flower even forgets the names of other ghost characters. Thus,Flower experiences a pseudo-endless trip, but Trevor’s drug use curiously doesn’t play the same role in his death.

During a ritual that the finance bros repeat frequently, Trevor, David Woodstone, and the rest of their buddies play"pill roulette."

Ghostsseason 4 recounts how Trevor also dies while using drugs and alcohol. During a ritual that the finance bros repeat frequently, Trevor, David Woodstone (Brian Cook), and the rest of their buddies play"pill roulette,“a game that requires taking unlabeled pills from a secret drug drawer at Woodstone Mansion full of assorted medical prescriptions. Trevor and his friends have also been mixing substances, so their realities are somewhat distorted the night Trevor collapses from cardiac arrest. Still, despite his antemortem bender, Trevor seems to be soberin the afterlife.

Why Flower’s Mushrooms Impacts Her After-Life But Trevor Is Sober

Is Flower Faking It?

There are plenty of explanations forGhosts’discrepancy.“Trevor’s Pants” reveals that Trevor wasn’t overly intoxicated the night he died in theWoodstone B&B timeline. Even if that’s the case, he still mixed prescription pills, but we don’t know what substance he was taking or if it has mind-altering effects. It could even be that the drugs neutralized one another. However, suppose he was intoxicated when he died. In that case, the explanation that meshes the most with Trevor’s background is that he was able to mask the effects of the substances he was taking, having built up a tolerance.

Julian Fawcett, an MP ghost fromGhosts UK,died while drinking and is permanently tipsy.

It’s also worth considering the overpowering and disorienting effects of mushrooms, which are drastically different from prescription pills. Flower seriously could lack a substantial connection to the material world, depending on what quantity she took, explaining her unique state. However, a darker reality presents itself when consideringwhat happened to Flower inGhostsseason 3. Flower had a perfect date with Thor but forgot about it. Then, the hippie accidentally revealed she was pretending to forget when they recreated the date. Thus, Flower’s poor memory trait could be a disguise, but the possibilities are truly endless inGhosts.
