It is possible to add custom character portraits intoPathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous. This allows for more possible appearances for the main character or mercenary Pathfinder recruits. However, most story characters have only at most two possible portraits: their normal default and a backup if you pick the former for your main character. For example, an NPC like Horgus Gwerm will look younger if you use his image for your own main character.

Custom art is a mod option exclusive to the PC version ofPathfinder: WotR. If you are playing on a console (for example,Pathfinder: WotR via Nintendo Switch cloud streaming), you will be stuck with only the normal set of portraits. This can get a bit more tiresome, as there are only so many variants. These images don’t always reflect your ideal class and race combination, andtend to overly favor more human-looking characters.

Where To Find Custom Portraits

There Are Portraits Across The Web

Many Pathfinder fans have compiled portrait art on various gaming sites.Nexus Modsis currently the most popular, with hundreds of portraits that are compatible with bothPathfinder: KingmakerandPathfinder: WotR; This makes iteasy to transfer characters between both titles. ThePathfindergame Reddit and Steam forums also typically share portraits, though they tend to be less organized.

Some of this art is from other Pathfinder works officially made by Paizo. However, some of it may also be from otheroutside artists who may have or may not have given permissionto the portrait curators. If you are going to streamPathfinder: WotR, your character’s face might have been taken from an uncredited source.

In many cases, these packs offer mostly appearances for the base classes and races. But, others might have art for all kinds ofunlocked Mythic Paths inPathfinder: WotR. This might include images that make your character look demonic, holy, undead, or more.

Making Your Own Portraits

If you already have an image in mind, it is also possible to make your own custom images forPathfinder: WotR. From one photo, you will need to makethree separate PNG format images. This can be done with image software like Photoshop, Paint, or even online websites that allow cropping. You will need to name the three images with these specifics:

185 x 242

Dialogue boxes

330 x 432

Story choices and full character sheet

692 x 1024

How To Use Custom Portraits

Images Need To Be Sorted And Accessed In-Game

Regardless of how you got your images, you need to move them into a place the game will recognize. This is best donebefore starting Pathfinder: WotR, but can still be done mid-game. Once your images are obtained, you save them to the specificPathfinder: WotRdirectory for your operating system:

From there, make separate folders for each individual characterand any subfolders to assist with sorting. For example, these folders can be as simple as 01, Character001, or NewElfDruid. Most packs you download from the web will do this for you, but some might not have sorted their characters correctly.

Why Paladins Are The Biggest Difference Between D&D & Pathfinder

Dungeons & Dragons wants Paladins to be right on the frontlines. But, Pathfinder has stealthier and magic focused Paladins that can still use smite.

Now, start up a new game ofPathfinder: Wrath of the Righteousor head over Hilor to recruit some mercenaries. Either way, you’ll now be in character creation. When picking a portrait, select Customin the middle of the screen. Next, selectOpen Portraits Folderand drag the three images into the corresponding boxes. If everything was named correctly, your custom portraits will be usable in the current save file.
