All of Us Are Dead’s first few episodes flirted with the idea of a love triangle – or quadrangle, to be more precise. The premise was thatCheong-san liked On-jo, but On-jo liked Su-hyeok.To make things more complicated, Su-hyeok liked Nam-ra. While complicated love stories are often part of K-dramas, I was not very excited about following a love triangle in a show about surviving the zombie apocalypse. Fortunately, not only didAll of Us Are Deadavoided the love triangle trope, but it also made its two lead couples fun and compelling to watch.
This is why I hopeAll of Us Are Deadseason 2 won’t throw all that development away to reignite the love triangle. Given that Cheong-san is dead and Nam-ra cannot live with her friends, there could be a scenario in which On-jo and Su-hyeok might start having feelings for each other. The “grieving friends who end up getting together” is a divisive trope in fiction, especially when it happens shortly after the death of a character.On-jo and Su-hyeok should remain friends inAll of Us Are Dead, regardless of whether they will reunite with Cheong-san and Nam-ra.
Netflix’s original K-dramasare known for taking big risks in their second seasons. For example,Sweet Homeseason 2 moved the focus away from Song Kang’s Cha Hyun-su and introduced a plethora of new characters. Likewise,Squid Gameseason 2 explored the inner workings of the games and ended on a massive cliffhanger. Another interesting example isGyeongseong Creature, whose second season was virtually a different show entirely set 80 years after the first season.I can’t help but wonder howAll of Us Are Deadseason 2 will be differentfrom season 1.

One way to shake things up in season 2 would be to reintroduce the love triangle, particularly because we don’t know if Cheong-san is alive. Assuming Nam-ra will not return with the rest of the group – a hambie cannot be in a quarantine zone after all – she and Su-hyeok might not be able to get together.There are waysAll of Us Are Deadcould play with its couples and bring in some drama, but I don’t think that would be good for the show.
Su-hyeok & Nam-ra And On-jo & Cheong-san Should Be The Focus
All of Us Are Deadseason 2 doesn’t need to bring back the love triangle or mess with the current couples simply because the show’s two main relationships are already interesting enough. The fact that neither On-jo nor Su-hyeok can be with the person they like is more than enough drama for the show, and there is no need for anything more complicated than that.All of Us Are Deadseason 2 should explore how Su-hyeok and Nam-ra are living in different worlds, whereas On-jo is grieving someone who might actually be alive.

All of Us Are Dead came out in 2022 to become one of Netflix’s biggest non-English titles, and there’s a reason why this zombie K-drama is so popular.
Cheong-san’s possible return as a hambie can also raise the emotional stakes of the story. Evenif Cheong-san is alive, given that four months passed between the bombings and the final scene of season 1, he might have chosen not to reunite with his friends because he is now a hambie. In other words, On-jo and Su-hyeok might face similar challenges in their relationships with Cheong-san and Nam-ra, respectively. There are a lot of cool ways in whichAll of Us Are Deadcan explore its romances without having to ruin any of the already-established couples.
