Netflix’s new romantic comedyNobody Wants Thisneeds a season 2 if the show hopes to correct its worst storyline.Nobody Wants Thisstars Kristen Bell as Joanne, a sex and relationships podcast host, and Adam Brody asRabbi Noahin an unlikely relationship that experiences numerous ups and downs throughout the show’s 10 episodes. The main arc focuses on the couple’s various obstacles, although there are a number ofcharacters inNobody Wants This, many of whom also have significant plotlines.
Two characters in particular, Joanne’s sister Morgan and Noah’s brother Sasha, played major roles in the show. Unfortunately,a key aspect of their roles was the bizarre dynamic the two had that went minimally explained and ended up being a major sore point of season 1. While there’s been no confirmation thatNobody Wants Thisseason 2is in the works or is even officially happening, the show needs another season to address and hopefully improve the issues with this relationship.
Sasha And Morgan Made No Sense In Nobody Wants This
From the moment Sasha and Morgan met, it seemed as though the show was implying their relationship had romantic undertones. Sasha immediately began pestering Morgan, and the two quickly developed a banter that, in most romantic comedies, would have signaled a romance was blossoming between the two. When Sasha’s wife, Esther, showed up and began berating him and Noah (which was unfortunately nearly the only personality trait her character exhibited), the dynamic between Morgan and Sasha became much more confusing.
From the moment Sasha and Morgan met, it seemed as though the show was implying their relationship had romantic undertones.
Sasha was clearly married and had a child, and he didn’t seem to actually intend to cheat on his wife. Even so,his behavior was consistent with someone having an affair. He was seeing Morgan without telling Esther, hiding his conversations with Morgan from his wife, and he seemed much happier in Morgan’s company than in Esther’s. Morgan also seemed clearly attracted to Sasha, in the classic rom-com way that saw her so annoyed with him that she ended up taking a liking to him.
Season 1 ended without drawing any clear conclusions about their relationship, though. Based on what was shown on screen, the two never truly crossed a line, at least in terms of a physical relationship. Sasha’s deception was certainly a major problem in his marriage, but it wasn’t clear to what extent that reflected an actual affair or just bad behavior on his part. In the end, season 1 concluding without more clearly defining the relationship between Sasha and Morgan just felt downright odd—and this would be so much worse if that was the end of the show, too.

Netflix’s new romantic comedy Nobody Wants This surprisingly seems to share a universe with another popular TV show based on one character.
Sasha And Morgan’s Relationship Made Both Characters Worse
On their own, Sasha and Morgan weren’t terrible characters. Morgan was at times an antagonistic sister, and her insistence that Noah was wrong for Joanne from the very beginning was at best a little selfish and at worst intentionally destructive (although she was framed when it came to falsely accusing Noah of cheating). Sasha also had his faults; it was more cringe-worthy than charming that he got high and helped his pre-teen daughter pursue the boy she had a crush on. Neither character was unpleasant or necessarily unlikable, though.
Their bizarre, borderline adulterous behavior changed that. Sasha went from a slightly unhelpful husband and dad to someone potentially betraying his wife and jeopardizing his family to flirt with and confide in a woman he barely knew. Morgan also spent time with Esther yet continued to carry on with Sasha knowing he wasn’t telling his wife about their relationship. This would have been troubling behavior either way, but her willingness to do this while continuing to see Esther at events made it so much worse.
Nobody Wants This Season 2 Must Resolve Sasha And Morgan’s Weird Story
The ending ofNobody Wants Thisdidn’t bring any clarity to this situation, adding to the complexity of Morgan and Sasha’s dynamic by having Esther learn about Sasha’s lying and secrecy but without resolution. If that was truly the end of the story, this was a bewildering storyline that seemed to do nothing other than make two of the show’s major characters seem worse.Hopefully,Nobody Wants Thiswill return for a second season and address this problem.
It would be interesting to see howNobody Wants Thisseason 2 would resolve this. At present, Sasha and Morgan having a true affair seems just as likely as the two confirming that they were only friends. The latter would require some genuine apologies from both to Esther, but it would at least mean they hadn’t engaged in any infidelity. Even if season 2 revealed Sasha and Morgan did end up having an affair, though, it would be preferable toNobody Wants Thisconcluding with the characters' relationship remaining an unsettling mystery.
