Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episode 6!

Invincibleseason 3, episode 6 just finally gave one underused character a spotlight, with the newest batch of episodes finally no longer ignoring one of season 2’s best new superheroes.Invincibleis constantly introducing new characters, with the various superheroes and supervillains from the comics making their way into the Amazon Prime Video show one by one. While one of the bestInvinciblecomics characters was finally introduced in season 2, with them even playing a major role in a season 2 storyline, they have been immensely sidelined up untilInvincibleseason 3, episode 6.

Invincibleseason 3 has continued some of the storylines from season 2 while introducing many of its own, with the main conflict of the season focusing on Mark and Cecil’s ideological battle. Meanwhile,Rex Splode and Shrinking Rae are starting a relationship, Powerplex is seeking revenge on Invincible, and the show’s post-credits scenes tease thatAngstrom Levy will return with an army of Mark Graysons. A lot has been packed intoInvincibleseason 3’s first six episodes, and while episodes seven and eight are set to be epic, this has distracted many from one of episode 6’s biggest positives.

Shapesmith Has Been Sidelined In Invincible Season 3 (After Being One Of Season 2’s Biggest Heroes)

He Hasn’t Been As Important

Shapesmith was first introduced inInvincibleseason 2, and after playing a major role throughout the season, he has been completely sidelines throughout the first five episodes of season 3. In season 2, it was revealed that a Martian came back to Earth, with him first replacing Rus Livingston before taking on a superhero identity of his own: Shapesmith. In disguise as a human, Shapesmith joined the Guardians of the Globe. However, his Martian identity and culpability for the Sequid invasion of Earth was revealed later, with this being one of season 2’s biggest storylines.

Steven Yeun Cast As 18 More Characters In Invincible Season 3

Steven Yeun has been cast as 18 more characters in Invincible season 3 ahead of a major episode that will feature all his upcoming roles in the show.

Shapesmith’s prominence in season 2 and his voice actor, Ben Schwartz, make it a bit strange that he has barely been featured inInvincibleseason 3. The character has mostly been seen in the background, and has only had a few lines. WhileShapesmith has been seen with the other members of the Guardians of the Globe a few times, he has had virtually no impact on season 3’s story. Shapesmith stole the hearts of manyInvinciblefans in season 2, and his energy and cosmic connections have been missed in season 3’s early episodes.

Invincible Season 3, Episode 6 Gives Shapesmith His Own Fight Scene With Powerplex

& It Is Ripped Straight From The Comics

After being ignored for the majority of the season, Shapesmith finally got some time to shine inInvincibleseason 3, episode 6.Episode 6 mostly centers on Powerplex, a new villain who hates Mark Grayson due to his sister dying during Mark’s fight with Nolan from season 1. Powerplex keeps causing public incidents in order to get Mark’s attention, but he can never seem to get Invincible to show up. During one of these incidents, Shapesmith responds, with him getting a hefty fight scene against Powerplex. However, Powerplex does end up beating Shapesmith pretty badly.

Giving Shapesmith his own fight scene was a great way to make up for sidelining the character, as his scene inInvincibleseason 3, episode 6 is arguably more about him than any of the individual scenes from season 2. The fight against Powerplexallows Shapesmith to perfectly show off his powers and humor, with him even briefly shapeshifting into Invincible during the fight. While Shapesmith may not connect to the overarching story ofInvincibleseason 3, it is nice to see the show bring him back into the mix by adapting his Powerplex fight from the comics.

I Thought Invincible Season 3’s Latest Episode Felt Familiar, Then Realized It Was Batman V Superman

Invincible season 3, episode 6 finally introduces Powerplex, and his story has a lot of odd similarities to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Unfortunately,Shapesmith doesn’t have all that much of an impact on theInvinciblecomics anymore. The Sequid storyline is continued, although never in as big of a way as it was previously. Since Shapesmith is a Martian, he does tie into this story, although his big secret has already been brought to the attention of the GDA. Shapesmith will probably be around for a while, although he may be less prominent asInvinciblecontinues.
