Invincibleseason 3’s release date has been revealed as part of a new meta trailer. The animated Prime Video series adapts Robert Kirkman’sInvinciblecomicsand has been a streaming hit since season 1’s 2021 release. After a nearly three-year wait between seasons 1 and 2, Kirkman promised that the wait forInvincibleseason 3would be significantly shorter as the adventures of Mark Grayson/Invincible (Steven Yeun) and the larger conflict with the Viltrumites continue.

Prime Videohas now revealed thatInvincibleseason 3 will debut on February 6, 2025with a three-episode premiere, followed by weekly releases for each of the remaining episodes through March 13. The meta trailer sees Mark and Cecil Stedman (Walton Goggins) talking in a Burger Mart. Their conversation cleverly acknowledges fans' frustration as they await season 3, along with the negative response to season 2’s midseason hiatus. The release date announcement also confirms that season 3 will not have a midseason break.

What This Means For Invincible

Invincible’s Release Plan Changes Are A Good Sign

The release date announcement aligns with Kirkman’s promise that the wait for season 3 would be much shorter as it debuts only 10 months after theInvincibleseason 2 ending. This is a vast improvement over the years-long wait for season 2 andwill helpInvincibleseason 3 better maintain its narrative momentum. While season 2, episode 4, “It’s Been A While,” was dramatic and consequential enough to be a midseason finale, pausing the season there brought all the narrative momentum to a grinding halt that was never fully reignited when the remaining episodes returned months later.

Invincible season 2 introduced some dangerous new characters while others got stronger, creating a new power ranking in Amazon’s hit series.

Another release schedule changeis season 3’s three-episode premiere, whereas season 2 only released one episode per week.Invincibleseason 3 is now following the same release plan as other ongoingPrime Video shows, includingThe BoysandThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. This approach has worked well for those series as itprovides an immediate payoff after the long wait and establishes the narrative setupfor the rest of the season.

Our Take On Invincible’s Release Date And Teaser Trailer

Invincible Season 3 Is Setting The Series Up For Success

Invincibleseason 3’s release plan bodes well for the new season and for the future of the series, particularly with the wait time between seasons decreasing, and the removal of a midseason hiatus. I would prefer to still only have one episode released per week, but I understand Prime Video wanting to be consistent with how they release their original series, especially when the three-episode premiere has worked well forThe BoysandThe Rings of Power. Between the improved release and the trailer showcasingInvincible’s distinct creativity and comedy, season 3 is more exciting than ever.

Cast

Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson,  a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father’s legacy isn’t as glitzy and glamorous as he’s been led to believe.
