Dragon Ball DAIMAwas the latest entry in theDragon Ballfranchise, butits inclusion into the canon raises a lot of questions. There are a lot of aspects aboutDragon Ball DAIMAthat would say it is canon directly, but there are a few more plot holes that would question its canon status. Whether or not the show is directly involved with the main timeline is up for debate, but even still,Dragon Ball DAIMAis one of the most fun and fresh additions toDragon Ballin nearly a decade.

Dragon Ball DAIMAhas more than a few qualities that make its addition to the overall canon dubious. Some of them are easy to spot, and others take a closer look to really register.Dragon Ball DAIMAis supposed to take place right after the Buu Saga inDragon Ball Zand before theBattle of the Godsmovie, which is the first arc ofDragon Ball Super, but it might not be that simple.

8Super Saiyan 4 Isn’t In Battle Of The Gods (Not-Canon)

Goku Used His Best Form Against Beerus, But His Best Form Was Super Saiyan 4 If DAIMA Is Canon

One of the most questionable aspects ofDragon Ball DAIMAis the inclusion ofSuper Saiyan 4 Goku. It was one of the coolest additions in the entire series, but it raised some questions too. Super Saiyan 4 Goku could be seen as the pinnacle ofDragon Ball DAIMA,but it is also one of the oddest moments ifDAIMA istruly canon. Beerus has quickly become an ally of the Z Fighters and a teacher as well. Before he was on their side, however, he was going to destroy their planet.

As a God of Destruction, it was Beerus' job. He did give the Earth a chance though, asking if its strongest fighter could defeat him in battle. Goku took on the challenge. He transformed into his powerful Super Saiyan 3 form in an attempt to defend his home from the God to no avail. IfDragon Ball DAIMAis canon, why didn’t Goku transform into a Super Saiyan 4?

It’s a moment that doesn’t make much sense in retrospect. Super Saiyan 4 is stronger than Super Saiyan 3 because Goku ascends to the new form when fighting Gomah inDAIMA.If Super Saiyan 4 is his strongest form,he should have used it in his fight against Beerus.InSuper,Goku even said that Super Saiyan 3 was the strongest, which wouldn’t be the case ifDragon Ball DAIMAreally was canon.

Dragon Ball Daima Director Addresses Super Saiyan 4’s Return, Debunking a Major Theory

A recent interview with the director of Dragon Ball DAIMA’s episode #18 debunked a popular fan theory about Super Saiyan 4.

Again, ifDAIMAwas canon, then Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta would be as strong as Super Saiyan 3 Goku. When Beerus came to the Earth, Vegeta would have been able to use his Super Saiyan 3 form as well, but he didn’t.

7Vegeta Said Super Saiyan 3 Is Useless (Canon)

Vegeta Never Used Super Saiyan 3 In Super, And This Could Be Why

Super Saiyan 3 Vegetais one of the Saiyan’s greatest moments as a character. His fight against Tamagami Number Two is one of the best fights inDragon Ball DAIMAfor several reasons. Not only does Vegeta finally bring his own Super Saiyan 3 form into the (questionable) canon, but he does it spectacularly. He unleashes the new form with his back against the wall, showing that he too can ascend to the same heights as Goku.

Even though Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta is a major plot point inDragon Ball DAIMA,it is never seen again inDragon Ball Super. While this seems dubious, Vegeta mentions why he never used the form in a fight against Goku Black. Super Saiyan 3 is notorious for being the worst Super Saiyan form. According to both Vegeta and Goku, the form gives an incredible spike in power at the cost of a substantial amount of stamina.

Goku plugs his nose in Dragon Ball Daima

Dragon Ball Daima Is Technically Canon, But It Raises 7 Questions That Super Needs To Answer

Dragon Ball Daima is officially considered canon, but there are some continuity issues that Dragon Ball Super needs to address if they’re to coexist.

If either Saiyan wanted to try and end a fight quickly, it would make sense to use the form as a last-ditch effort. If a fight was going to last long, however, the form would come with more negatives than positives. Vegeta’s explanation during the Future Trunks Arc makes his decision to not use Super Saiyan 3 inDragon Ball Supermakes sense.

6Panzy Is Nowhere To Be Seen In Super (Not-Canon)

She Seemed To Go Back To Earth With The Z Fighters

Panzy is one of the best characters fromDragon Ball DAIMA.She’s the princess of the Third Demon World and an expert with technology, making her one ofthe smartest characters inDragon Ball. She’s added to the series early and bonds with Goku immediately. When Bulma arrives, the two share a few moments, showing not only how smart the two characters are, but how much they have in common.

At the end ofDragon Ball DAIMA,the series heavily implies that Panzy heads back to Earth with Bulma and the rest of the Z Fighters. If Panzy did go back to Earth, which would make sense considering that most of the Demon Realm’s problems have been resolved, why wasn’t Panzy inDragon Ball Super? If she was back on Earth, she would definitely be with Bulma at Capsule Corp as well.

Panzy fit in quickly with the Z Fighters. She worked hard to create unity in the Demon Realm. Now that the Demon Realm finally has the peace she always wanted, it would make sense for Panzy to follow her curiosity and head back to Earth with the Z Fighters.

5Dragon Ball Super Manga Mentions That Namekians Comes From Another Realm (Canon)

Dragon Ball DAIMA Shows That Namekians Come From The Demon Realm

The origin of Namekians has always been questionable. Even though the Saiyans are much stronger than them in battle, the Namekians are one of the strongest races in the franchise for their ability to create the titular Dragon Balls. There are more than one set of Dragon Balls thanks to Namekians as well. Without Dragon Balls, characters like Goku, Krillin, and Gohan wouldn’t have the ability to transcend death and return to the land of the living.

Most people assumed that Namekians originated on the planet Namek that Frieza destroyed inDragon Ball Z,butDragon Ball DAIMAhas a different take. According toDAIMA,Namekians actually came from the Demon Realm. They left their home world when it became too dangerous, as many of the Demon Realm’s inhabitants attacked the Namekians both for their inability to defend themselves and for their ability to create Dragon Balls.

Move Over, Piccolo: Here’s the 10 Strongest Namekians in Dragon Ball, Ranked

The Namekians are one of the most iconic alien races in Dragon Ball, and here’s how the strongest of them all rank against one another.

In theDragon Ball Supermanga, Moori, a Namekian Elder, mentions that his people don’t originate “from this realm”. While he never says which realm the Namekians originate from, it doesn’t matter. His addition to the lore makesDragon Ball DAIMAmore canon, as Neva inDAIMAfurthers Moori’s story and finishes telling the Z Fighters about where the Namekians truly come from.

4Bulma Wishes For A Butt Lift (Not Canon)

Bulma has always been concerned about her beauty. It makes sense in a way. She’s one of the richest, smartest characters in the world who is married to one of the Universe’s strongest fighters, so her beauty may be the last thing on her menu she doesn’t have access to. She’s always looking for new ways to improve her appearance, and inDragon Ball DAIMA,she finds some.

Dragon Ball Daima Introduces A Twist On The Senzu Beans, & They’re Absolutely Disgusting

Dragon Ball Daima introduces Revive Bugs, the Demon Realm’s disgusting alternative to the Senzu bean.

The bugs inDragon Ball DAIMAare diverse. There are Medi-Bugs, which are similar to Senzu-Beans found on Earth, Join-Bugs, which can fuze two characters together, like Potara Earrings, and even Beaut-Bugs, which can make a character look more youthful. Bulma is enamored when she hears about the Beaut-Bugs' ability, buying everything that the shop owner has in stock.

InDragon Ball Super: Super Hero,Bulma makes two wishes with Shenron: one to give her a butt lift, and the other to increase the size of her eyelashes. The Beaut-Bugs' exact effect is never really spelled out, butif Bulma had hundreds of them, did she need to wish for more beauty? Maybe the Beaut-Bugs didn’t have the same effects that Shenron granted her, but it still raises a few questions.

3Akira Toriyama Wrote Dragon Ball DAIMA (Canon)

Unlike Dragon Ball GT, Creator Akira Toriyama Was Directly Connected With Dragon Ball DAIMA’s Story

One of the biggest reasons that most fans aren’t willing to includeDragon Ball GTin the canon is becauseDragon Ballcreator Akira Toriyama wasn’t involved in the story. He created the character designs for the series, and that was about it. Because he wasn’t included,Dragon Ball GTis often seen as the worst addition to the franchise. WhileDragon Ball GTisn’t all that bad, it probably isn’t canon, and Akira Toriyama’s lack of inclusion is a big reason behind that.

Before he passed away,Toriyama was heavily involved withDragon Ball DAIMA.It may be his final gift toDragon Ballfans. Since Toriyama was involved, it is hard to see the series as anything other than a direct entry in the timeline. There are a lot of plot holes, butDragon Ballhas never been perfect (most series as long asDragon Ballaren’t, for that matter).

2Rymus Created The Multiverse, Not Zeno (Not Canon)

It Was Always Implied That Zeno Created Everything, But Maybe That Isn’t The Case

The Gods, Angels, and Zeno were the biggest additions toDragon Ball Super. They took the scale of everything up a few levels, showing how deep theDragon Balluniverse really is. Zeno is known as the Omni-King,the most powerful character inDragon Ball.He can destroy entire universes with a single wave of his hand.

Rymus is a new character inDragon Ball DAIMA.While he was never shown directly, he was explained to be the Majin that created the Multiverse outside the Demon Realm. He is then said to be the highest authority over the universe he created, calling Zeno’s authority into question.

No otherDragon Ballseries has tried to explain how the universe and everything in it came to be, so Rymus might be canon. It is heavily implied, if not said outright, that Zeno is the highest authority in existence. Rymus' addition to the franchise is confusing.

One possible explanation is that Rymus is a creator and Zeno is a destroyer. There are two types of authority within universes: an Angel and a Destroyer God. Rymus could be the Angel that creates, while Zeno could be the God of Destruction that destroys. It’s a reach, but it’s one of the only ways to explain how both Rymus and Zeno could be included in the same canon.

1Producer Akio Iyoku Said DAIMA Is A Continuation Of The Majin Buu Saga

Straight From One Of The Heads Of DAIMA

It’s hard to denyDragon Ball DAIMAcanon status whenone of the heads ofDragon Ballhas said that it’s canon outright.Akio Iyoku, one of the biggest names in manga and anime in Japan, has said that not only isDragon Ball DAIMAcanon, but it’s a direct continuation from the Buu Saga inDragon Ball Z.

It is true that the author himself is in charge of the story, it is a continuation, and it is connected to the Majin Buu Saga. That is the fact, and that is all.

When one of the heads ofDragon Ballhas confirmed the series' canon status, it’s hard to see it as anything else. Still, there are a lot of plot holes within the series. While even Iyoku himself isn’t sure whatthe future ofDragon Balllooks like, the series is still far from finished. Maybe future editions ofDragon Ball Superwill look to explain some of the unanswered questions that have come fromDragon Ball DAIMA,but according to Iyoku, it’s another series in the mainDragon Balltimeline.
