In addition to increasingly positive reviews from critics with each subsequent season, with season 3 being a highlight,Mayor of Kingstownlikely won over some new viewers due to Renner’s traumatic snowplow incident in January 2023. There was a wide outpouring of support for the actor andRenner’s recovery journeycontinues to inspire. These viewers, of course, likely stuck around for season 3, which premiered earlier this summer.

What’s Been Said About Mayor Of Kingstown Season 4

There’s Reason To Be Optimistic About The Taylor Sheridan Show’s Return

In aninterview withVariety, showrunner Hugh Dillon commented on what theMayor of Kingstownstory would look like heading into season 4, teasing that things will continue to be dark for Mike, but that there will be a sense of hope as well. He references Mike having hope regarding Iris (Emma Laird) and Kyle (Taylor Handley), saying: “It’s all those family issues, and how do you absorb loss and defeat and compromise? That is the crux.” Season 4, then, would seemingly feature Mike struggling to balance the light and the dark parts of his life.

Renner himself has also addressed the possibility ofMayor of Kingstownseason 4, tellingColliderearlier this summer thathe thinks “there’s more to explore.“All signs seemingly point to a bright future for the Sheridan show, and Renner, who also serves as an executive producer on the project, being game to continue the journey as Mike is certainly a positive sign. Why Mayor Of Kingstown Hasn’t Been Renewed For Season 4 Just Yet

Considering the continued success ofMayor of Kingstown, it’s very likely that season 4 will eventually get the green light. With season 3 having just concluded, it’s possible thatParamount is waiting for a few more weeks' worth of viewership data before making the final decision. It’s also possible that an announcement hasn’t arrived yet because of just how busy Sheridan is with other shows. The creator, for example, has a hand in1923season 2,Lionessseason 2, andYellowstonespinoffThe Madison.

It has now been confirmed that Michelle Pfeiffer will lead the cast ofThe Madison, and it’s been reported that Kurt Russell could potentially join her as co-lead, in addition to returning members of theYellowstonecast.

Audiences, though, can probably count on Renner to reprise his role as Mike, especially given the story threads that are left hanging in theMayor of Kingstownseason 3 ending. Renner won’t, however, be reprising his role as Cory for the upcomingWind River 2, which will instead star Alan Ruck, Scott Eastwood, Jason Clarke, and Martin Sensmeier. ThisWind Riversequel also isn’t being written or directed by Sheridan.

Renner has also been cast inRian Johnson’sWake Up Dead Man, the third film in the director’s successfulKnives Outfranchise. Renner joins a host of talented actors in the murder mystery sequel, including the returning Daniel Craig and newcomers Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Thomas Hayden Church, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, and Josh O’Connor. Renner is also attached to a film chronicling the exploits of journalist David Armstrong, who exposed key figures responsible for the Opioid epidemic. IfMayor of Kingstowngets renewed, Renner certainly has an exciting few years ahead of him.
