As much as I’m anticipating 2025’sJurassic World Rebirth, I think the upcoming movie would be much better if one element of it was changed.Jurassic World Rebirthis the upcoming seventh installment in theJurassic Parkfranchise, which first originated in 1993. Although this movie is part of the larger series,Jurassic World Rebirthis going to follow an entirely new cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali.This opens the door for even more excitingJurassic Parkstories, and a departure from the franchise’s past mistakes.

So far, what we know aboutJurassic World Rebirthis somewhat limited. Aside from the cast, it has been announced that the movie will be set five years afterthe end ofJurassic World Dominionand will focus on team of experts who are tasked with finding the last surviving dinosaurs to collect DNA from them that could save human lives. Furthermore, the movie has a current release date of June 02, 2025. All in all,Jurassic World Rebirthseemingly has all the ingredients of an exciting new installment, yet there is one detail that I desperately wish could change.

Jurassic World Rebirth Should Be Called “Jurassic Park Rebirth”

Why The New Jurassic Park Should Distinguish Itself

AlthoughJurassic World Rebirthhas had its titlefor months now, I think that the movie should be called “Jurassic Park Rebirth” instead. The main reason for this is that the franchise as a whole isJurassic Park, andJurassic World Rebirthis not technically an installment in theJurassic Worldfilms, even if it takes place after the fact. If anything,it seems likeJurassic World Rebirthis a new chapter of the franchise, so it would make sense to hark back to the original titleor use a new one altogether rather than continue using what came before.

Jurassic World: Rebirth Plot Theory

Screen Rant theorizes what the plot for Jurassic World: Rebirth could have been.

Titles won’t exactly make or break a movie, but when it comes toJurassic World Rebirth,it could have an effect. For example, some audiences may assume that the new movie will include Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, when in reality, it is an entirely new cast. More importantly,Jurassic World Rebirthneeds to stand out from previousJurassic Parkprojects. With new characters and a new story, it is vital thatJurassic World Rebirthfeels fresh so that it not only feels different from its predecessors, but also so the film series can continue to be successful.

Why The Next Jurassic Movie Is “World,” Not “Park”

Jurassic Park Must Nail Down Its Path Forward

I believe that calling the movie “Jurassic Park Rebirth” makes more sense, but I can see why the movie has stuck with the “world” title. Unlike the earlier movies which were focused completely on the park itself, theJurassic Worldmovies have seen dinosaurs go beyond the confines of the park, affecting the entire world. Technically,Jurassic World Rebirthwill be the same. The dinos will not just be inside a park, but will be tracked down in the wild. So, I suppose it is more world than park.

In this way, I fear that the new installment will pushJurassic Parkinto a storytelling corner that it cannot get out of.

Even then,I worry about the future of theJurassic Parkfranchise. The progression from park to world makes sense, but I’m not really sure how the film series could raise the stakes beyond that. If the dinosaurs have already infiltrated the world, where could they go next? On top of that, the premise ofJurassic World Rebirthimplies that there are only a few dinosaurs left. In this way, I fear that the new installment will pushJurassic Parkinto a storytelling corner that it cannot get out of.

Returning To “Jurassic Park” Would Banish Memories Of Jurassic World Dominion

Will Jurassic World Rebirth Be Successful?

There is one final reason why I thinkJurassic World Rebirthshould avoid its “world” title. To be truthful,Jurassic World Dominionwas not the best installmentin the franchise, and it would be helpful not to remind audiences of it. By returning to the original “park” title,Jurassic World Rebirthcould create a blank slate for itself that is not tainted by anyone’s preexisting notions of theJurassic Worldmovies.Jurassic World Rebirthcertainly does not want to suffer from the failures of its predecessors.

Of course, there is no telling just yet how wellJurassic World Rebirthwill do. Historically, theJurassic Parkfranchise has been incredibly successful at the box office, even if the movie itself was disliked by critics and audiences.Jurassic World Dominiononly earned a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes, but went on to gross $1 billion. Hopefully,Jurassic World Rebirthcan not only earn the big bucks, but also satisfyJurassic Parkfans.
