Kraven The Hunter Features A Villain With Different Abilities Than The Main Character
One of the many problems with the SSU is its villains.VenomandVenom: Let There Be Carnagefeatured Tom Hardy’s symbiote fighting Riot and Carnage, and both symbiotes were to some degree just evil versions of Venom in different colors. InMorbius, Michael Morbius fights his brother, Milo, who undergoes the same experiment that gives him similar vampire powers. InMadame Web, Cassandra Webb and Ezekiel Sims both have visions of the future, butMadame Web’s Ezekiel Simsuses this for evil purposes, while Cassandra uses her visions for good.
Kraven’s villain is unique, as he isn’t a character who is almost identical to the main character. While Rhino and Kraven both have super strength, Rhino is more powerful due to his sheer size and armored skin. Kraven does have agility and speed, but it will be hard for him to do damage against Rhino, as punches and bullets seemingly won’t do too much. It’s a more interesting fight, as Kraven needs to strategize and utilize his hunting abilities, rather than brute strength.
Kraven Puts An Interesting Spin On The Rhino
In Marvel Comics, Rhino is a Russian mafia member named Aleksei Sytsevich who undergoes an experiment to gain super strength and an artificial skin covering, giving him a thick hide and sharp horns. His skin is both a gift and a curse, as it’s more like a suit he can’t take off. InThe Amazing Spider-Man 2, Paul Giamatti’s Alexseiisn’t experimented on and is given a giant, robotic rhino suit which he uses during the film’s ending.
InKraven the Hunter,Alexsei is already a powerful man who uses a serum that turns him into a rhino-human hybrid. It transforms his skin into gray rhino-like armor and gives him super strength and durability. The trailers also make it seem like the injection may not be permanent. While the trailer only reveals a small glimpse at Rhino, his design looks promising, and it could lead to an exciting fight between him and Kraven that provides a much-needed fresh dynamic for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.
