Out of the villain teams inDragon Ball, there are none that are on the same level as the Ginyu Force. While the latest episode ofDragon Ball Daimaintroduced a new team, the Gendarmerie Force, it became clear right away thatthey couldn’t outdo Frieza’s elite force. While both teams share the same theatrics and flamboyant poses, there’s a clear line that separates them from each other.

While the Gendarmerie certainly shares the same flair, episode fourteen ofDaimadrops hints that they aren’t as villainous as the Ginyu Force was. The subtle yet significant difference shows how muchDragon Ballshifted its approach to elite villain groups. Due to this shift, it seems thatthere may never be another team quite like the Ginyus.

Dragon Ball Daima’s Gendarmerie Have a Stronger Moral Compass Than the Ginyu Force

The Gendarmerie Only Shares the Ginyu Force’s Theatrics

Upon first glance, the Gendarmerie Force is a tribute to the Ginyu Force, given their over-the-top theatrics and synchronized posing that’sdirectly inspired by shows Toriyama used to watch with his son. However, beneath their dramatic exterior lies a fundamentally different dynamic that will never put them on par with the Ginyu Force. Unlike the Ginyus, who carried out Frieza’s orders with loyalty and brutality to match the tyrant’s ruthlessness, the Gendarmerie Force has a surprising degree of moral consideration.

While both teams enjoy their dramatics, the difference in morality creates a major difference. For the Ginyus, their theatrical poses emphasized their ruthlessness, showing theydidn’t care who they hurt and enjoyed being Frieza’s elite force. On the other hand, the Gendarmerie doesn’t come across as even half as ruthless. A perfect example of this is their hesitance to fight against children, provingthey have some degree of ethical boundaries. It wasn’t until Gomah explained to them that their opponents were adults that they felt justified in engaging them.

Dragon Ball Daima Accidentally Reveals Finale Release Date: What We Know

Dragon Ball Daima’s finale date has finally been revealed, giving fans an idea of how much more of the hit new series they can expect.

Their later actions in episode fourteen also demonstrate this difference further. The group runs into the Majin at a convenience store and mistakes them for ordinary children. They attempt to buy snacks for the two of them as a gesture of goodwill, and while this attempt is prevented due to their lack of funds, they pivot to offering them chocolate and health advice to cover up their blunder. While the scene is far from the peak of integrity, it doesdemonstrate that the Gendarmerie has a sense of compassionthat the Ginyu Force doesn’t share, even for other soldiers serving Frieza.

The Members of the Ginyu Force Didn’t Have Reservations in Battle

The Ginyu Force Only Cared About Serving the Most Powerful Being and Nothing Else

The Ginyu Force operated with straightforward principles, one of which was absolute loyalty to Frieza and to maintain their flamboyant style.Unlike the Gendarmerie Force, the Ginyus showed no hesitation in taking on any opponent, regardless of their age, as shown by Gohan, who at the time was no more than six years old. To the Ginyu Force, a mission was a mission, and their opponents were obstacles that needed to be taken out. This mindset they shared was what made them worthy of being Frieza’s elite warriors and set the villainous team apart from other groups in the franchise.

The Ginyu Force never displayed moral boundaries like the Gendarmerie did, even for other soldiers serving Frieza. In episode 67 ofDragon Ball Z, Ginyu trains lower-ranked soldiers to pose like the Ginyus. However, by the end,he tells them all to “run for their lives”and ruthlessly throws them one by one far out of the scene, unimpressed by their performance. For Ginyu, strength, obedience, and style were all that mattered, leaving no room for compassion.

Dragon Ball Daima Collides With One Piece Thanks To an Unexpected Crossover

Dragon Ball’s latest installment shares an unexpected similarity with One Piece’s ongoing arc, and it’s something fans of both series will respect.

This is also demonstrated when Guldo dies at Vegeta’s hands. Rather than being upset over their fallen teammate, Burter, Jeice, and Recoome instead worry about howtheir routine is ruined and the inconvenience of coming up with a new one. While the Ginyus worked together effectively and made a frightening force, they didn’t exhibit the same interpersonal warmth shown in the Gendarmerie’s interactions. Rather, their unity was born from their shared allegiance to Frieza rather than genuine camaraderie. The Ginyu Force was unapologetically brutal and reflected higher stakes and the darker tone ofDragon Ball Zthat has yet to be recreated.
