Max’s adaptation ofLike Water for Chocolatehas already been renewed for a second season, and here’s what to know about the magical romance’s return. Based on the beloved eponymous novel by Laura Esquivel,Like Water for Chocolateconcerns the star-crossed lovers, Tita (Azul Guaita) and Pedro (Andres Baida), as their relationship intertwines with the complicated politics of the Mexican Revolution. Filming Begins On The Sophomore Season
A few months after Max officially ordered another season, the latest news confirms thatLike Water for Chocolateseason 2 has begun filming (viaWarner Bros. Discovery). The sophomore season of the magical realist TV adaptation is already underway, and it will serve as the final installment when it wraps up the complete story of the novel. No details about the production timeline are currently known, butwith shooting getting underway so quickly, it stands to reason that HBO aims to see the series return by early 2026.
Exectutive producer Salma Hayek released the following statement about season 2:
This will be a season of change and growth for many of our characters, particularly Tita.We are proud to partner with Max and Endemol again for this new season, which will be an intense journey, full of dramatic but also romantic, magical events. Tita & Pedro’s Love Story Continues
While some details about the sophomore season remain under wraps, a slew of information about returning cast members has already been announced. Naturally,Azul Guaita will be back as the passionate gourmand, Tita, while Andres Paida is set to reprise his role as her love, Pedro. Irene Azuela will be back as the fierce and tyrannical matriarch of the de la Garza family, Mamá Elena, and she isn’t done being a thorn in Tita’s side. Meanwhile, Ana Valeria Becerril is back as Rosaura, Tita’s older sister who marries Pedro because of the strictures of tradition.
Tita and Rosaura’s younger sister, Gertrudis, will once again be played by Andrea Chaparro, while Ángeles Cruz is set to return as Tita’s loving caretaker, Nacha. Finally, it has also been confirmed that Mauricio García Lozano will be back as Don Pedro, Pedro’s extremely wealthy and vicious father. Other returns haven’t been confirmed yet, butit is likely that the entire cast from season 1 will reprise their roles.Furthermore, the second half of the story does introduce new character who will necessitate some new actors as well.

Since the show is based on awell-known banned book, the story of season 2 is pretty easy to guess.
