Magic: The Gathering’s New Cards Are Breaking A 25-Year Tradition

Magic: The Gathering has been releasing a lot of new types of cards, and some from their upcoming tie-in set are breaking a long-standing tradition.

What Is Duskmourn: House Of Horror?

The Perfect Set For Fall

WhileMagic: The Gatheringhas dabbled in horror themes in previous sets,Duskmourn: House of Horrorrepresents the game’s most modern take on the genre. Pulling inspiration from classic films likeHalloweenandPoltergeist, the plane consists of a single gigantic mansion that’s riddled with mysterious and spooky entities. The story follows a group of adventures as they go about exploring the strange new world to track down Nashi, the son of the Planswalker Tamiyo, who vanished after entering a mysterious door to an unknown dimension.

The history of Duskmourn will sound familiar to fans ofThe Amityville HorrorandThe Exorcistas the plane was originally just a normal house that was used to imprison a vile entity by the name of Valgavoth. Since the demon was unable to break free,he opted to expand his domain to consume the entire plane, becoming an omnipotent presencethat’s aware of anyone and anything taking residence in the structure. This mighty power allowed Valgavoth to open up doors to other planes, suggesting that he may be responsible for Nashi’s disappearance.
