Warning: SPOILERS for My Hero Academia’s epilogue (volume #42)

TheMy Hero Academiaepilogue brought with it an amazing and necessary development for many of the series’ less relevant characters. This additional chapter not only gives fans an in-depth view of what the world became after All For One’s defeat, but it also gives the members of Class 1-A a final chance to shine.

One of the characters whose ending granted him the relevance he deserved isHanta Sero, one of the series' most underrated students. During the final shot of the manga, Hanta can be seen swinging around the city, proving once again that he has the potential to becomeMy Hero Academia’s equivalent to the iconic Marvel ComicsSpider-Man.

Sero Swing Through The City In Style

His Costume And Pose Are An Amazing Homage To Peter Parker

Depicted at the end ofMy Hero Academia’s epilogue, the members of Class 1-A prepare to patrol the city together after enjoying a heartwarming reunion. The final pages of the manga include an outstanding illustration that shows Aizawa’s pupils ready to shine in their Pro Hero costumes. While not the central focus of the image, Sero is visible in the picture, sporting a new and improved suit that seems to be referencingone of the most beloved and powerful superheroes in history:Spider-Man.

Sero’s costume is a simple spandex bodysuit that gives him the mobility needed to swing through the city with his Quirk. His signature tape-dispenser-like helmet and shoulder pad give him an unmistakable and somewhat threatening look. With his face entirely covered by a uniform mask, Hanta looks like an alternative version of Peter Parker, likely as a homage from Kohei Horikoshi, the creator, to such an icon. Moreover, as Sero travels, his pose looks almost identical to the one adopted by Spider-Manin many movies and comics.

Sero’s Epilogue Might Be An Homage To Horikoshi’s Idol

Spider-Man Is One Of The Author’s Favorite Heroes

It’s no secret thatHorikoshi’s love for American superheroes inspired theMy Hero Academiamangain the first place. Among all the amazing heroes that motivated the manga author,Spider-Man holds a special place in his heart. Depicting Sero with a similar suit while swinging in his iconic pose hints at this being a loving tribute to the arachnid hero. From the beginning, Hanta has been compared with Peter Parker, due to his Quirk giving him a similar ability to the wallcrawler.

The final appearance of Sero in the series not only confirms this but elevates his status to the Spider-Man of his universe. Adding this detail was an amazing decision on Horikoshi’s part, as it gave Hanta the recognition that he sorely lacked throughout the series. Best of all, it gives Sero an identity of his own, leaving behind the shadow of his classmates and becoming an outstanding hero of his own accord.

Although Sero might not be the most popularMy Hero Academiacharacter, it was clear that he deserved to be given a proper conclusion. Transforming him from the often-forgotten member of Class 1-A to the series’ residentSpider-Manwas a brilliant move.
