Jack Lowden could be an inspired casting choice for Mr. Darcy. InSlow Horses, he plays a character who is closely guarded, perfect for Darcy’s aloof personality, but is also deeply principled, another trait that aligns closely with Austen’s iconic hero. Lowden’s past performances inWar & PeaceandBenedictionalso showcase his ability to convey both brooding reserve and subtle vulnerability. If he brings some of that same complexity to Darcy, he may well capture the pride, restraint, and eventual warmth that make him such an enduringly compelling character. Netflix’sPride and Prejudiceseries might be onto something here.
