Paid For Opportunity At A Debuting Shiny
WhilePokémon GOTour: Unova is set to feature several significant debuts, the Road to Unova event does not, but it doesinclude a new shiny debut.A new set of paid research will be added to the game at the event’s start. This research will lead to a guaranteed encounter with Shiny Meloetta once you have completed all the stages.
The research task series is called Masterwork Research and has no expiry date. Once you have bought the ticket to unlock it, you can complete it whenever you like.

The tickets for the Masterwork Research cost $4.99 or the equivalent local currency. They will be available to buy until Sunday July 22, 2025.Meloetta was originally introduced toPokémon GOas part of the annualPokémon GOFest several years ago. I have found that Meleotta serves little purpose in battles but remains extremely rare and has only ever appeared as part of special events.
Six More Encounters For Trainers
During the event, several Pokémon from the Unova region will featureincreased spawns inPokémon GO. This includes the three starter Pokémon from the region,Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott. All have featured inPokémon GOon numerous occasions, but it is a further chance to catch them, as well as all three having thepossibility to be shiny during the event. In addition, their next evolution stages are also available as increased spawns but with a lower chance of appearing. These are Servine, Pignite, and Dewott, providing more candy if you want to evolve them into their final stage.
Other Pokémon will also spawn during the Road to Unova Event, but not at the increased rate of the above Pokémon.
On top of the increased spawns for the above Pokémon, anadditional five from the Unova region are featured in 2km eggs. For the duration of the event, the Pokémon that can be hatched from these eggs will change from their regular line-up toRoggenrola, Timburr, Karrablast, Shelmet, and Larvesta.Only eggs that have been added to your inventory during the event have the possibility of being these Pokémon, regardless of when they are hatched.
Rare Legendary Pokémon On Offer
One of the biggest overhauls for this event is the raids, with many rare Pokémon on offer. During the Road to Unova Event, the three starters,Snivy, Tepig and Oshawottwill all feature in one-star raids, which solo players can easily beat.Druddigonmakes its return in 3-star raids, but the hardest set, 5-star raids, will change throughout the event. These changes take over from the regularPokémon GORaid Boss schedule for February 2025.

For the five full days of the Road To Unova Event, the Pokémon available in 5-star raids will change every day. Itfeatures several Legendary and Mythical Pokémonfrom the Unova region. The majority of these Pokémon have only been available in the game through 5-star raids, making them incredibly rare. In addition, all 5-star raid Pokémon have the chance of being shiny versions, so if you have yet to capture one, the Road To Unova Event might be your best chance. They will all require multiple trainers to defeat them, but they can be done remotely using remote raid passes.
