While many of the cards in the new set are reprints,Prismatic Evolutionsalso features new ultra-rare and special illustration rare versions of many popular cards published over the last year. Although pull rates for these “secret rare” cards are traditionally very low, it appears that thePokémon TCGhas increased the pull rates for rare cards, at least for this set.
According toTCGPlayer, the pull rate for special illustration rare cards inPrismatic Evolutionsis 1 in every 45 packs. InPokémon TCGsets released in 2024, the pull rate for special illustration rare cards was 1 in every 90 packs. While the pull rate forPrismatic Evolutionsis better than usual, this is offset somewhat by the large number of special illustration rare cards. There are 32 different special illustration rare cards inPrismatic Evolutions, meaning that there’s a 1 in 1,440 chance of pulling a specific card.

In addition to special illustration rare cards and other standard rarities,Prismatic Evolutionsalso features two special foil treatments. Some reverse holofoil cards feature a Poké Ball foil treatment, while other cards feature a special Master Ball foil treatment. Our Take: Good Pull Rates Help Offset Special Set Limitations
Better Pull Rates Help Make Up For Needing To Buy Packs In Boxed Products
Demand forPrismatic Evolutionsis ata fever pitch, in part because of cards like the new “Moonbreon” card that’s currently selling forthousands of dollars. Since collectors can’t buy individual booster packs from reputable sellers, demand is being driven even higher.
Providing fans with better pull rates should help offset some of the current demand and the need to buy boxed sets to get their hands onPrismatic Evolutionscards. Hopefully, the strong pull rates help to keep some of the individual card prices down, so that collectors don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to complete this latestPokémon TCGset.
