The Queen of Country Music will return to the comedy genre in NBC’s upcoming show.Happy’s Placewill be a departure from Reba McEntire’s usual rolesin the sandbox, as her story doesn’t revolve around a divorce that forces her to raise her children alone. Instead, she will be a barkeeper who is forced to run it with a half-sister that she never knew existed. NBC’sHappy’s Placehas already staged a reunion between Melissa Peterman and McEntire, but anotherRebaactor is joining them.

Peterman and McEntire’s chemistry was undisputed inReba,so much so, that even though their relationship had a less-than-ideal start, viewers bought into their relationship. Arguably, their dynamic was the backbone of the sitcom, with Brock being sidelined for the most part. That said,Howey and Peterman were the comedic foundation of the show. Interestingly, they barely got a storyline that involved just them, but every time they shared the screen, they were always hilarious.
Happy’s Place Is Better Than A Reba Revival Because Of One Divisive Character
Reba McEntire’s new sitcom is a much better return to comedy than reviving Reba because of an entertaining but divisive Hart family member.
InHappy’s Place’s story,Peterman’s Gabbie is the right-hand person of McEntire’s Bobbiein her bar. Beyond their professional relationship, however, they are friends.Howey is a guest star when Gabbie decides she wants to have a babythrough a sperm donor. Admittedly, the idea of Van becoming the biological father of Barbra Jean inRebais an uncomfortable thought. That said, it could create some of the funniest moments inHappy’s Place’s debut year if they pull it off.

It’s A Hart Family Reunion!
Ideally, I would have wantedHowie to be at least a recurringcast memberinHappy’s Place. However, if his story with Peterman amounts to nothing, we may never see him come back for another appearance. The good thing is that if he ends up being Gabbie’s donor, he could pop by every so often to check up on her and their potential baby. Howey and Peterman are still very close to each other, so seeing them share the screen again will undoubtedly be great. There’s also excitement about him acting alongside McEntire.
