Birdperson’s New Rebel Ally Is a Genius Replacement for Rick (But with Dark Implications)

Mr. Nimbus Is a Powerful Nemesis and a Handsome Lover
A KeyRick and MortyCharacter
Mr. Nimbus is an omnisexual underwater king, who, since his introduction in 2021, has been able to stand toe-to-toe with his nemesis, Rick Sanchez. His design is a hilarious combination of Namor the Sub-Mariner, glam rock-era David Bowie, andThe Rocky Horror Picture Show’sDr. Frank N Furter. He controls sea creatures, the very oceans themselves, and, strangely, the police force. When he first appeared to redraw a treaty between land and sea with Rick,he also handed over a contract to Beth and Jerry - to negotiate a threesome. In a post-credits scene, the couple shows up at his door.
In the comics, Rick and Morty can take a backseat to the other important characters, like Mr. Meeseeks, Birdperson, or even people resurrected from the dead.

After Jerry points out his relationship with Nimbus, a footnote in the comic pops up,breaking the fourth wallto discuss whether theRick and Mortycomics are canon to the show’s universe. While not fully addressing the question, it does continue on to definitively state that not only have Beth, Jerry, and Nimbus continued to hook up, but thatthey’re doing it in between every single scene of the show.Given the emotional rollercoaster of Jerry and Beth’s marriage, it promises to always be awkward; within this veryAnniversary Special,Beth searches the internet to see if it’s normal to divorce the same person twice.

Fans Need to Check Out the10th Anniversary Special
The frequency at which Morty’s parents get together with Mr. Nimbus isn’t meant to be taken literally (how would they have time to do anything else), but it does reflect the rich world-building thattheRick and Mortycomics flesh outwhen the show doesn’t have time. In the comics, Rick and Morty can take a backseat to the other important characters, like Mr. Meeseeks, Birdperson, or even people resurrected from the dead. It’s been a wild ten years ofRick and Morty, but only the comics allow fans to find out that Jerry, Beth, and Mr. Nimbus share a three-year-long relationship.
