The actor was supposed to come back for director David Ayer’s sequel, but since that film never happened andDC chose to move forward with James Gunn’sThe Suicide Squad, the plans to have Eastwood come back were abandoned. Eastwood’s comments are interesting, as there were many rumors regarding whom the actor could be playing when he was cast inSuicide Squad. The star’s minor role as GQ Edwards ended up being disappointing, as speculation had circled on howEastwood could be playing a major DC character undercover. However, now that the actor has revealed that Ayer had plans to make hisSuicide Squadcharacter someone else in a possible sequel, perhaps there was some truth to the rumors that DC considered Eastwood for Nightwing, which could have been who Edwards would turn out to be.
There was an easy way to make both characters the same, as theGraysoncomic book series from DC could explain. In that storyline, Dick Grayson’s death was faked so he could infiltrate a top-secret organization that spied on superheroes, Spyral. Since director Zack Snyder claimed Dick was the Robin who was shown to have died inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, that could have been a ploy by the Dark Knight.Bruce Wayne knew what Amanda Waller was doing with theSuicide Squad, so having Dick infiltrate the team as GQ Edwards and report back could have worked.

If the Nightwing rumors had any truth to them, Eastwood coming back inSuicide Squad 2as Dick Grayson would have most likely ruined the actor’s chances of playing his dream DC role. During his conversation withScreenRant, Scott Eastwood revealed thatthe character he would like to play in James Gunn’s DC Universe is Batman. If rumors had panned out and Eastwood gave life to Dick Grayson in the DCEU, it would have been hard to see the studio opting to use the same actor for Batman. However, as it stands, nothing plays against Eastwood’s DCU Batman chances.
Batman has made his first DCU appearance in the animated Creature Commandos series, though no actor has been cast at this time.
At 38,Scott Eastwood is seven years older than DCU Superman actor David Corenswet. That is not too much, and it allows Eastwood to fit the version of Batman the DCU will have, which is a Bruce Wayne with a whole Bat-Family and father to the young Damian Wayne. Eastwood said the role was interesting to him because of Bruce’s two very different lives. The actor would be able to do great with both the playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne, as seen inI Want You Back, and Batman’s dark persona, whichScott Eastwood’s multiple serious action roles show.

Agency head Amanda Waller, played by award-winning actress Viola Davis, is the one striking deals with the inmates of Belle Reve Prison. Heading “Task Force X” is Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag, alongside Will Smith’s Deadshot, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang, Jay Hernandez’s El Diablo, Adewale Akinnuoye’s Killer Croc, and Adam Beach’s Slipknot. Karen Fukuhara’s Katana also joins the mission to keep Rick safe from the villains. Jared Leto (Joker) and Ben Affleck (Batman) have smaller roles in David Ayer’sSuicide Squad, as does Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress.
