As of August 2024,Shang-Chi2hasn’t been officially announced by Marvel. Nevertheless, Disney recently updated its movie schedule, canceling a 2026 Marvel movie and thus leaving 2026 with justAvengers: Doomsdayand 2027 with two other untitled MCU movies besidesAvengers: Secret Wars.Taking Disney’s movie slate into account,Shang-Chi 2could fill Marvel’s July 2027 or November 2027 slots. It’s important to note, however, thatMarvel’s upcoming movie plansare always subject to change.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' mid-credits scene reveals thatthe Ten Rings sent a mysterious signal to an unknown location. It’s possible that, apart from being powerful weapons, the Ten Rings are also somehow linked to the multiverse. The floating rings in Kang the Conqueror’s time-traveling chair and Ms. Marvel’s Nega-Bands share some similarities with the Ten Rings, meaning that all of them could be important to the plot ofAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars. If true, thenShang-Chi 2’s best release date would be before either of these crossover movies.
Regardless ofShang-Chi 2’s specific release date, theShang-Chiand the Legend of the Ten Ringssequel is probably a high-priority project for Marvel Studios, alongside other unconfirmed MCU sequels such asDoctor Strange 3andThor 5. In the meantime, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi is likely to appear inAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars. Shang-Chi’s best friend, Awkwafina’s Katy Chen, could also follow suit due to her newfound skills with the bow and arrow.
