SNL 50’s Holiday Weekend Update Joke Swap Tradition Features Scarlet Johansson

Johansson Makes A Cameo During SNL’s Last Episode Of 2024

DuringtheWeekend Updateannual joke swap inSaturday Night Liveseason 50, episode 10,Michael Che gave his co-host a joke about Scarlett Johansson. For those who don’t know, Colin Jost and Johansson are married in real life. So, forcing Jost to tell a crude joke about his wife is sinister and hilarious in and of itself. However, what made it worse (aka so much better) was that Johansson watched it all happen. Jost said, “I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo, Scarlett Johansson,” before the cameras cut to the actress backstage and the audience burst into laughter. The rest of Jost’s joke was:

“Y’all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday, which means I’m about to get up out of there … Nah, nah. I’m just playin'. We just had a kid together, and y’all ain’t see no pictures of him yet cause he black as hell.”

Johansson just smiled, shook her head, and said, “Oh, sh*t,” after the bit was over. The actress' reaction combined with Che’s written lines for Jost instantly made itone of the best joke swaps ever in the history ofSaturday Night Live.It was a fantastic way to say goodbye totheWeekend Updatehostsuntil 2025, and will not be forgotten anytime soon.

Why Scarlet Johansson Makes Jost & Che’s Joke Swap More Hilarious

Che Has A History Of Writing Jokes About Johansson For Jost

Saturday Night Liveseason 50’s joke swap is even more perfect when taking into account thatit isn’t the first time Scarlett Johansson has been targeted during the segment.Previous installments of the fan-favorite annual skit featured Che writing jokes about Scarlett Johansson. For example, one of Jost’s jokes duringseason 46’sWeekend Updatesegmentrevolved around Johansson playing Sammy Davis Jr. in an upcoming biopic about Frank Sinatra. So, it was only a matter of time before Johansson made an appearance. HerSaturday Night Livecameo certainly sent the joke over the top, making it one of the show’s best.
