Squid Gameseason 2 sets up a cliffhanger ending that will likely force Gi-hun into a dangerous role next to the Front Man in season 3. In theSquid Gameseason 2 ending, it’s emphasized at that moment when Player 001 asks Gi-hun if he is willing to sacrifice some to save the rest that the Front Man has greater plans for Gi-hun. This strongly suggests thatSquid Gameseason 3 is heading toward a trolley problem that Gi-hun will be forced to solve. ASquid Gameseason 3 trolley problem would likely force Gi-hun to choose between who lives and who dies.

AfterIn-ho went undercover as Player 001 inSquid Gameseason 2, Gi-hun being forced into an authoritative role would be a complete role reversal with very interesting, and tragic, outcomes. While Gi-hun was concerned about all of the contestants' lives inSquid Gameseason 2, none were as personal to him as Jung-bae, who was shot and killed by In-ho in the season 2 finale. It’s clear that In-ho was intent on breaking Gi-hun’s spirit after he returned to the Squid Game for a second time. In-ho, however, develops an odd sort of admiration for Gi-hun but in the end, is the one calling all the shots.

Gi-hun Won’t Be Just Another Player In Squid Game Season 3 After His Rebellion

The Front Man will have special plans for Gi-hun

The Front Man won’t just let Gi-hun come back and play the games normally. He surely has special plans for him, which will be established in Squid Game season 3. Following the death of Jung-bae, it’s more than likely that Gi-hun will be held captive by the Front Man, whose identity still remains a mystery to Gi-hun. The Front Man has learned to respect and even admire Gi-hun throughout season 2 but will not let Gi-hun succeed in trying to stop the games from happening. The Front Man could try to persuade Gi-hun to join himbut he will have to reveal his true identity before that happens.

Severalcharacters are returning inSquid Gameseason 3that will still have their eye on the grand prize. At this point, it’s clear that Gi-hun could care less about the money and will stay focused on saving as many people as possible. In-ho knows this and will likely use that against Gi-hun, forcing him to choose between various contestants and potentially act as some type of judge in season 3. Forcing Gi-hun to make decisions over other contestants' livescould finally make Gi-hun realize that there is no stopping the Squid Game. He is, however, the last hope of anyone taking the Squid Game down.

The Front Man will likley hand over the game’s fate to Gi-hun

Gi-hun will likely continue to be the main character ofSquid Gameseason 3, just like the previous two. The Front Man will likely try to break Gi-hun’s spirit, which will force Gi-hun to make incredibly difficult decisions that will have major effects on his life and those of others. Through the first two seasons ofSquid Game, Gi-hun has always had the ability to fight for his own freedom and make his own decisions. In fact, Squid Game is based entirely on the decisions that players make. It seems probable that the Front Man will force Gi-hun to make some of the hardest decisions of his life, not just for himself but for others, inSquid Gameseason 3.
