OneStardew Valleyfan has written a hilarious take on the protagonist of the game, from the point of view of the villagers. The cozy farming sim by solo developer ConcernedApe is rife with lore and interesting characters to meet and befriend. How people play the game varies, though, so while some play as intended and visit the village frequently, others may choose to live a more secluded farming life. How this hermit-like existence might look to the fellow residents of the village was not something players considered, until now.
Stardew Valleyplaces players in the shoes of a character who’s recently arrived to replace his dearly departed grandfather at the farm. Reddit userEmj123gives fans a look at what the farmer might look like from the point of view of the villagers, in a Reddit post titled"POV: Farmer only leaves the farm on one day of the year. A true story.“In it, Emj123 writes aboutthe strange new farmer who moved into the valley at the beginning of the year.

They describe how the farmer hasn’t left their farm for a whole year, although the villagers are certain they’re at least alive because they keep sending “shipments of sap, wood, and rusty cogs to the local store.” The story goes on to recountthe first time the farmer finally made their way out to meet the villagers. The Redditor writes that their “good friend” Elliot bought the farmer a rare tea set for the end-of-the-year Secret Santa, not expecting them to show up.
The farmer does finally appear on Winter 25, during the Feast of the Winter Star, wearing the same outfit they arrived in and a dustbin lid on their head. They then proceed to give the local fisherman Willy a lump of coal, accept Elliott’s gift, and retreat to their farm without a word. The story makes the behavior of the player seem completely bizarre when it’s considered how they might look from the perspective of the people around them.

We Never Considered How The Villagers Of Stardew Valley See Us
How Do Protagonists Appear In Other Games?
The silly story shared by Emj123 is a testament to the creativity of theStardew Valleycommunity. It also makes me wonderhow the characters we play as in other games look like to bystanders.I imagine Link walking into my house, breaking all my vases, and then walking back out without a word. I’ve always thought it was hilarious when game protagonists are faced with a massive threat, but choose to go finish collecting some trinkets first.
Stardew Valleyis a game that’s very open to being played in any way. Some players spend a long time finding joy in the little moments on their farm, while othersplay the title to perfection. Thanks to Emj123’s perspective on the farmer ofStardew Valley, players may start to look at the characters in the game from a different perspective.
