Warning! Spoilers ahead for Absolute Superman #3!Everyone might be a fan of Lois Lane’s Superwoman, butAbsolute Supermanhas just raised the argument for someone else to take the title. It was only a few short months ago thatLois Lane gained powersand while she’s done an amazing job, a true-blue Kryptonian makes her case for the Superwoman title.

InAbsolute Superman #3by Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval, a flashback to Kal-El’s childhood shows how Jor-El’s attempts to warn the Kryptonian people of the planet’s impending doom got him arrested for heresy. Kal-El returns home and notifies his mother, Lara, who dons an armor she’s been working on and grabs a lava-shooting gun.

Absolute Superman’s Mother Proves He’s a Capable Superwoman

How Does She Compare to Lois Lane’s New Hero Persona?

There have been a lot of Superwomen over the years. Sometimes they’re heroic, and sometimes they’re villains who come to do the Super-Family harm. Thankfully, the latest Superwoman cameabout after Lois Lane accidentally became involved with the power swap at the end of Absolute Power. Thanks to wearing an armor that was both connected to the Amazos that stole the metahumans' powers and was sending signals into deep space, Lois wound up taking General Zod’s abilities. With all the powers of Superman at her disposal,Lois donned the identity of Superwoman and joined her husband in protecting the DCU.

Though she’s only been Superwoman a short time, Lois has served admirably in the role. She’s managed to keep the Daily Planet running smoothly and even helped keep Doomsday at bay the last time he attacked Metropolis. ButAbsolute Supermanhas proven that in the alternate Krypton history, she was a very intelligent, and very kick-ass, person. Not only did she design the armor that’s boosted Superman’s powers on Earth, the armor helped her storm the oppressive Law Guild and get Jor-El back safely. If Lois is worthy of being Superwomanthen so should Superman’s mother, Lara.

Lois Lane and Lara-El Both Deserve the Superwoman Title

There’s Plenty of Room for More Than One Superwoman

Lois has taken to the life of a hero, and she should absolutely stay Superwoman for as long as possible. But it’s not like she has to be the only one. Technically, she isn’t as Lana Lang is currently ‘Superwoman Red’ (making Lois Superwoman Blue). Plus, the Absolute Universe is a distinct world with its own continuity, so why not switch up things and have her be the canonical first Superwoman (at least as far as that universe is concerned)? Lara is a smart and determined person who could serve as a real inspiration toSupermanby being a Superwoman.

Absolute Superman #3is available now from DC Comics.
