Cristo Fernández offers a hopeful update for his potentialTed Lassoseason 4 return. Just over a year after the fan-favorite Apple TV+ sports comedy came to an end, a surprise report revealed in August 2024 that Warner Bros. had signed Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift tonew deals in the hopes of developing a new season of the show.Subsequent reports have offered a range ofupdates onTed Lassoseason 4, including Phil Dunster reportedly not returning as Jamie Tartt and Jason Sudeikis' return still unclear.
During a recent interview withYahoo! Sports’The Cooligans, Fernández was asked whether he would be returning forTed Lassoseason 4. Though unable to offer a concrete answer whether he would be back as AFC Richmond forward Dani Rojas,he did remain open to the chance at reprising his role, feeling “forever grateful” for the character in the first place and would love to play the character “many more times”. See what Fernández said in the quotes and video below:

Look, I read the article too. I can tell you that more than anything I am a fan too. I love the show. I’m forever grateful with Ted Lasso, with the fans, with Jason [Sudeikis], Joe [Kelly], Brendan [Hunt], Bill [Lawrence] and all the writers for giving me the opportunity to be part of it. And [it] just was a dream come true to do this campaign for State Farm because I had the chance to be Dani Rojas again. I would love to be Dani Rojas many more times. And I am excited [if] there’s more Ted Lasso, I want to be part of it, yes.
Ted Lasso Season 4 Needs Its AFC Richmond Actors More Than Anything
The Growth Of The Team Is Essential To The Story
Given the above interview came just days after the first report came out about the show, it’s not entirely a surprise for Fernández to not have heard anything about hisTed Lassoseason 4 returnas of yet. Sources initially reported that Warner Bros. TV were reaching out to the rest of the cast following Waddingham, Goldstein and Swift’s new contracts, thoughtwo of the biggest elements that would factor into a greenlight decision would be budgeting and scheduling. Considering the cast’s growing star profiles, the budget in particular may prove something of a hurdle.
Sudeikis' absence could be even more impactful if Goldstein, Waddingham and Swift are the only ones to return forTed Lassoseason 4.

Even still, while some eagerly await word of whether Sudeikis will return to the titular role, the AFC Richmond actors are all the moreimportant forTed Lassoseason 4. Though much of the show’s charm comes from Ted’s positive outlook on life and coaching, the growth of the team is just as central to its story. Between Sam’s growth into a more confident player to Jamie and Roy’s embracing of a team mentality,Ted Lasso’s themes were often felt more through AFC Richmond’s players than Ted himself.
7 Characters Who Should Return If Ted Lasso Season 4 Happens (And 3 Who Shouldn’t)
Speculation is rampant about a potential Ted Lasso season 4, but if it ends up happening, 7 characters should return, while 3 should not.
Sudeikis' absence could be even more impactful if Goldstein, Waddingham and Swift are the only ones to return forTed Lassoseason 4. Nick Mohammed’s Nate went through one of the biggest evolutions throughout the show, and he, Roy and Brendan Hunt’s Beard were left with managing AFC Richmond, which would makefor an emotional journey should they and the team work togetherto stay true to Ted’s methods and bring home the Premier League championship trophy. However, if Roy and Rebecca are left to rebuild the team from scratch, Ted’s messages may hold different meanings for season 4’s story.
