Typically, new episodes ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimedebut on Crunchyroll on Fridays, at 8:30 AM Pacific Time/11:30 AM Eastern Time. However, due to a scheduling conflict in Japan,episode #18 ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimewill actually be debuting on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Presumably, the Crunchyroll release will mirror this slight delay in the Japanese release. As a result of the brief time between the Japanese premiere and the release on Crunchyroll, episodes will initially be available only in Japanese with subtitles. The English dub is currently about 2 weeks behind the subtitled version, so episode #16’s dub is likely to be released that week as well.

Rimuru Learns of the Lightspeed Hero
The episode opened with meeting time, as Rimuru introduced Mjollmiles to his other aides, and had him lay out the exact schedule of events for the festival, which is now imminent. Rimuru’s schedule will certainly be full, to say the least, with the sheer number of events that they have planned for the VIPs in attendance, including opera shows and a palatial banquet, as well as the martial arts tournament in the coliseum and the massive dungeon that will go live on the second day of the festival. Rimuru also learned that the elven slave trade had been put to a stop by a figure known as the Lightspeed Hero, Masayuki.
The rest of the episode was dedicated to introducing Masayuki and his allies, and explaining his origin. Masayuki was a high school student who one day was suddenly teleported to this world, rather than dying and reincarnating like Rimuru, or being summoned like many of the other Otherworlders. Masayuki discovered he had been granted a special skill, Chosen One, which helps him to gather allies and bring out their true strength. While Soei is under the impression that Masayuki is coming to Tempest to kill Rimuru, it seems based on Masayuki’s behavior that he, like Rimuru, would rather talk things out.

Luminus Leads a Recap Episode
The next episode ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimeis entitled “Digression: Luminus Memories.” This title format suggests that, like episode #48.5, this will be another recap episode, as framed from Demon Lord Luminus Valentine’s perspective. As a result, it’s likely to focus heavily on recapping the Saint-Monster Confrontation Arc, the entire storyline of Hinata coming to challenge Rimuru and all the deceit that was required to force them into fighting one another. It’s not clear just how much farther the recap might cover, since Luminus wasn’t present for most of the festival preparations that have made up recent episodes.
Recap episodes usually aren’t the most exciting for big fans, as they’re already well aware of what’s been going on in the story. Still, it can be beneficial to more casual fans to have a reminder of all that’s happened in this season ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, as it’s been far more than it appears. It’s also possible that the framing device involving Luminus could include some new material, perhaps allowing viewers to get to know this mysterious Demon Lord a bit better. Ultimately, there’s no telling exactly what will be in episode #18 ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, other than the fact that it will involve recap.
