After a long stretch of peaceful episodes, it was an energizing return to the action with the latest episode, which featured clashes between familiar faces and newer ones alike. The Hero Masayuki managed to make his way to the final round without so much as drawing his sword–a major disappointment for Rimuru, who was hoping to gauge Masayuki’s abilities. Up for grabs is a position in Rimuru’s Elite Four, a group of his most powerful fighters which already consists of Shion, Benimaru, and Diablo. For Masayuki, it’s the chance to challenge Rimuru to a fight on the line.

The English dub is currently about 3 weeks behind the subbed version, so the next episode to be dubbed will be episode #20, Festival’s Eve. The Martial Arts Tournament Commences
Episode #22 ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimefeatured Rimuru’s long-awaited martial arts tournament, adding a splash of excitement back into the peaceful times which have made up the back half of season 3. The matches went by relatively quickly, getting through to the finals match already, which should be the focus of episode #23. One character who had a rather surprising performance was Gobta, who managed to make it to the final round to face the Lightspeed Hero, Masayuki. Masayuki didn’t so much as draw his sword, winning both his matches by default, so the match between Gobta and Masayuki is a real toss-up.
The crowds were highly entertained by the event, making the second day of the festival a smashing success. The finals still lay ahead, and there’s always the opening of the dungeon to look forward to as well. With two of Rimuru’s boss monsters having taken part in the tournament, the dungeon is already getting something of a reputation as being for only the strongest to challenge. Hinata seems to think that Gobta really stands a chance of winning, but whether she’s right remains to be seen.

The Final Tournament Round Begins
Episode 23 ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimeis entitled “Settling the Score with the Hero.” Based on chapters 114 and 115 of the manga, it should pick up right where episode 22 left off–that is, with Rimuru having a meeting with Gazel about their coin problem. The meeting is looking to be interrupted by Elmesia, who may have a little solution of her own to their dilemma. Elmesia does have one glaring concern, though, and it happens to involve Diablo…
Things will then pick back up with the final round of the tournament the next morning. Gobta will be facing Masayuki, but it’s still not clear what kind of power Masayuki actually wields. Everyone from Rimuru to Hakuro is extremely invested in Gobta’s victory, and Gobta just may have a new trick up his sleeve to help deal with the legendary hero. But will Gobta’s new power be enough to help him win? Knowing the truth of Masayuki’s personality, this is actually a battle between two cowards, so anything could happen.
Either way, Rimuru will have to deal with Masayuki personally at some point, and it’s better to get that over with sooner rather than later. Perhaps, like with Hinata, it will be possible to resolve their differences in some way other than violence. They do have more in common than not, as Otherworlders from Japan, after all. The end ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimeseason 3 is fast approaching, and hopefully this Masayuki plot will be resolved before then.
