Jeff Parker, Lukas Ketner, Michele Bandini, and Michele Bandini’sBatman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns#5 officially marked the epic conclusion of the holiday-themed weekly mini-series, which featured Santa Claus teaming up with some of DC’s greatest heroes to face off against the Silent Knight—a villain wreaking havoc across the planet by draining the life forces of his victims.
In the issue, it’s revealed that one of the reasons the Knight is so strong is his enchanted armor. To even the odds,Jason Blood and Metamorpho join forces, meeting the villain with a creative choice of armor themselves.

Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns#5 follows Batman, Superman, Zatanna, and Green Lantern John Stewart as they encounter Jason Blood dueling with the Silent Knight. Taken aback by the heroes' newfound armor,Clark asks where Jason found it, only for Metamorpho to answer by allowing his face to morph through the shield, revealing that Rex himself is actually the armor. This moment is undoubtedly silly but also canon-accurate, as it perfectly aligns with Rex’s ability to transmute his body into any element and take on any shape. In this case, Metamorpho reformed himself into a complete armor set—sword and shield included.
While the scene of Rex’s face popping out from Blood’s shield and winking at Superman is undeniably funny, there’s no denying that the armor he morphs into is pretty badass. Its design subtly pays homage to Etrigan the Demon—Jason Blood’s demon alter ego. The armor features a black and gold color scheme with red accents, and the helm takes on a shape similar to Etrigan’s head, complete with horns. What further enhances the appeal of this suit is that Rex incorporates his iconic look into it, with the chainmail of the suit showcasing his signature color scheme of orange, purple, silver, and brown.
