The Mandalorian: Din Djarin’s Full Timeline, Backstory, & Star Wars Future Explained
The Mandalorian’s Din Djarin has quickly become one of Star Wars' most iconic characters. Here’s his full timeline, backstory, and future explained.
Speaking withColliderat FAN EXPO Canada, Howard opens up about her own personal pride in crafting the romance seen in her first episode ofThe Mandalorian. She insists that she “will not take much credit for anything [in The Mandalorian] except for this” before excitedly stating “I love romance. I love romance. I love it. I love it. I love it.” Howard reveals that she was even the one who wanted to give Omera a name, as the script had left her character nameless - something that her assistant at the time, Sonia Aurora, helped her with.

Howard shares that she was keen on exploring the dynamics and tension around Din’s growing feelings for Omera and his devotion to his Mandalorian Creed. She explains,“if you’re someone who’s wearing a helmet, and you’ve devoted yourself in this way, what happens when you fall in love?“This question certainly stands throughout the episode as viewers watch Din let himself get closer and closer to Omera, particularly in the scene when he debates letting her take off his helmet for him.
Din Djarin
Din Djarin was once a lone bounty who has since tasked himself with raising his adopted son and Mandalorian apprentice, Grogu. Born on Aq Vetina and raised on Concordia by the Mandalorian faction the Children of the Watch, Din is an orphan and Mandalorian foundling who has risked both his life and his Mandalorian Creed to protect Grogu. Djarin has become an important part of the galaxy’s fight against the Imperial Remnant that lingers in the wake of the Empire’s fall, as he is now working under-the-table for the fledgling New Republic’s rangers.
Will Omera Ever Return In The Mandalorian?
This Romance Has a Slim Chance of Returning
As brief as this romance was between Din Djarin and Omera, it was quite sweet, which has left some viewers hoping that Omera will return inThe Mandalorianone day. Though it’s unfortunately unlikely, given how Din and Grogu are the key relationship at the heart ofThe Mandalorian, it’s certainly not impossible. A recent update to theStar Warsgalaxy maphas indicated thatSorgan nearly neighbors Adelphi, a planet Din will be frequentingas he gets jobs from Captain Carson Teva on behalf of theNew Republic.
That decision seems intentional, but it could also be a simple coincidence. Either way, it’s nice to finally know for certain what was brewing between Din and Omera inThe Mandalorianafter nearly five years of speculation. It would be a nice ending to Din’s story inThe Mandalorianfor him to retire at the end of the next galactic conflict and, upon the completion of Grogu’s Mandalorian training, finally accept the life Omera had offered him on Sorgan, even if it isn’t necessarily an avenue that needs further exploration.

The Mandalorian’s spin-off movie,The Mandalorian & Grogu, hits theaters August 03, 2025.
