During Tokyo Comic Con in 2019, Mark Ruffalo revealed that he had talked to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about possible storylines for the Hulk in the MCU. Ruffalo said,“Hulk vs. Wolverine. I’d like to see that. Hulk vs. Wolverine!“This was talked about afterAvengers: Endgame, as the Multiverse Saga was about to kick off. Even though mutants have been teased in various projects, it wasn’t untilDeadpool & Wolverinethat the MCU seemed to really be building up to their eventual inclusion in the MCU. Deadpool & Wolverine Made A Hulk Battle Even More Exciting

One of the manyDeadpool & Wolverinecameosteased an intense Hulk vs. Wolverine battle. During Wade Wilson’s trip throughout the multiverse in search of a new Logan, he comes across a variant of the character that is wearing the iconic John Byrne brown and yellow Wolverine costume. In that scene,Wolverine is about to fight a variant of the Hulk, eventually striking the iconic pose where the Hulk is reflected in Wolverine’s claws, an homage to the remarkable cover ofThe Incredible Hulk #340.

Wolverine’s first appearance was inThe Incredible Hulk #181, which featured a clash between the two characters.

In that film, Wolverine is tasked with hunting down a rampaging monster in the isolated Canadian wilderness. The setting is fantastic and lends itself well to great fight choreography and stand-out moments. There is a scene where the fight takes place in a river, which the MCU should definitely incorporate if they decide to have the battle.

Even though it can be fun just seeing Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine throwing down with the Hulk, it should mean more than that.

If that can happen, it could be one of the best scenes that the MCU has ever had.
