What Do The Reviews Say About The Old Man Season 2?

The Performances Are The Highlight.

The early divide over the show’s second installment could be noted asa disagreement over whatThe Old Man’s best qualities are. Part of the reason the action series got a good amount of early buzz is because the early episodes were action-heavy and inventive. Directed by Jon Watts, who previously helmed Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, the series was a thrill because of how quickly Bridges' character could leap into action. Kaiya Shunyata, writing forRogertEbert.com, says that aspect is not season 2’s strong point: “It works better as a drama than the espionage thriller it seems desperate to be.”

The Old Manseason 2 consists of eight episodes.

Shunyata shares praise forThe Old Mancast, which also includes John Lithgow, E. J. Bonilla, Alia Shawkat, and Amy Brenneman. That praise is echoed in Nick Schager’s review forThe Daily Beast. However, Schager observes: “The series’ fixation on Afghanistan politics means that it’s no longer really a story about an aged lone wolf on the run from his past—a gravely underwhelming transition.” The review stresses that the lead characters played byBridges and Lithgow are not the main focus.

The Old Man Season 2 Wishlist: 10 Things We Need To See Happen

As season 2 of FX’s The Old Man draws closer, it must answer questions from season 1 and provide pivotal scenes between characters in the new story.

Followingthe ending ofThe Old Manseason 1, the FX show is continuing the worthwhile goal of putting a spotlight on the human consequences of U.S. policy abroad. But the adaptation, which hails from Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine, hastended to favor long monologues and characters dumping information on each otherin place of more organic development. But it still has things to recommend, as Alex Maidy ofJoBlo.comnotes: “This is a story of the consequences of youth haunting you later in life, and I cannot think of better actors to overcome the challenge.”
